Which activities award Honor and Rank Points?
Blizzard identifies defeating other players, completing battlegrounds, and finishing relevant PvP quests as ways to earn Honor. Blizzard says it adjusted acquisition rates to make battleground gains more consistent. Its stated goal is to let players choose between maps without feeling pushed toward Alterac Valley simply because it is the most efficient option. For a practical comparison, consider what you want from a session. The tasks are described as weekly tasks, but Blizzard explicitly says they remain available in future seasons because they are tied to the Legacy System. That statement does not establish that every unfinished task remains available indefinitely, nor does it say exactly how task availability behaves at a weekly reset. It does mean they should not be described as automatically disappearing forever when a week ends.
The missing schedule also means there is no reliable answer here to “How many hours do I have left?” or “How many matches can I fit in before reset?” Those answers depend on the live rollover time, the current cap, activity rewards, and your character’s existing progress—details Blizzard’s article does not publish. Check the interface close to the time you plan to stop, rather than using a reset time from retail WoW, Classic, or another region as a substitute.
How to plan a week without published reward rates
- Check your character’s current state. Open the in-game PvP tab to see your rank, Rank Points, and whether you meet purchase eligibility requirements. The official article points players to this tab for those details.
- Review the active journey tasks. Identify which available tasks award Honor and Rank Points, and note whether a task is among the three seasonal tasks that grant a Legacy Point. Blizzard does not publish a universal task list or numerical task rewards in its explanation, so use the live interface for your character and season.
- Choose activities that fit the task and your preferred play. Battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests are documented sources of both progression currencies; defeating other players is a documented Honor source. Pick maps and activities based on the current task requirements and what you want to play, rather than assuming a reward-rate ranking that Blizzard has not published.
- Keep the two goals separate. If you need equipment, track Honor and the rank requirements attached to specific purchases. If you are pursuing the next rank reward, track Rank Points and the weekly cap. A large Honor balance does not itself show that you have reached a rank threshold.
- Recheck before planning around the rollover. Use current in-game information for the reset schedule and remaining progress. The official article confirms a weekly cap but provides neither a timestamp nor a numeric cap.
This approach avoids treating a weekly cap as a required number of battlegrounds. Without published rates, match counts cannot be converted reliably into either Rank Points or a precise time-to-rank estimate. Holiday-week bonuses and task rewards can also affect what is worthwhile in a particular week.
It also helps prevent a common planning mistake: treating every reward as if it came from the same counter. A route can be attractive because it advances a task, gives Honor for a gear purchase, and contributes Rank Points, but those are separate outcomes. Check which reward you still need before choosing an activity. If you have already met a task condition, that alone does not tell you whether you have reached the weekly Rank Point cap.
Honor gear and the Emboldened Seal requirement
Honor can be spent on a blue-quality PvP set and an epic-quality set. The epic version is not simply a second purchase made with Honor alone: Blizzard says each epic piece requires the corresponding blue piece plus an Emboldened Seal, and the seals have rank requirements. Therefore, a player working toward epic equipment needs to consider both currency and rank eligibility.

This makes the blue set part of the epic gear path, not merely an unrelated alternative. Before spending Honor, check whether you want the corresponding blue item and whether your rank qualifies you to obtain the seal for its epic version. The faction-associated ultimate titles named by Blizzard are High Warlord for Horde and Grand Marshal for Alliance. Season changes and what carries over
Blizzard’s stated carry-forward detail is about the seasonal journey tasks: they are tied to the Legacy System and remain available in future seasons. Its October 7 explanation does not settle whether Rank Points, rank, Honor, or purchased gear carry over when a season ends. Do not assume either a full reset or full retention for those other forms of progress based on the task statement alone.
If preserving a rank or currency balance matters to your plans, treat season-end behavior as unconfirmed until the game’s current official information or interface explains it. A forum question asking whether a Rank 14 player keeps that rank in a new season is not itself evidence of the rule.
In particular, the confirmation that tasks persist into future seasons should not be read as confirmation that Rank 14, Honor balances, or gear are preserved—or wiped. Those are separate questions the progression explanation leaves open. Players planning purchases or delaying a grind until the next season should look for an explicit season-transition announcement rather than infer a carryover policy from the Legacy System wording.

As of October 13, 2026, Blizzard’s WoW: Forever home page presents the game as upcoming, with a November 4, 2026 launch date and a beta running September 17 through October 21, 2026. The same official page says access requires a WoW subscription or game time. Because the progression explanation was published during beta and the game had not yet reached its listed launch date on October 13, treat its systems as the published rules at that point—not a guarantee that every number, task, or schedule will remain unchanged at launch.
