Blizzard’s latest reviewed WoW: Forever beta development notes, updated October 8, 2026, adjust several classes alongside bug fixes and interface updates. Some changes come with a developer explanation; others have drawn questions or requests for more tuning from players. The available discussions show differing reactions, not a community-wide consensus, and beta values may change before launch.
What Blizzard changed in the October 8 notes
The October 8, 2026 beta development-notes post covers more than class balance: it includes bug fixes, items, quests, interface and gamepad updates, cooldown-manager testing details, and known issues. Its class section includes Druid spell fixes and a substantial Wrath damage adjustment, Hunter pet changes, Mage spell tuning, Paladin Holy Strike and threat changes, Priest fixes, Shaman totem and talent-tree adjustments, and Warrior talent and ability changes. These examples are not a complete class-by-class recap; the official post is the source for the full list and qualifications.

The notes also address a memory leak, display problems, Pet Happiness behavior, and mail handling of surnames. They describe temporary beta respec pricing and gamepad flyouts for several classes, as well as options for displaying cooldown information.
What Blizzard says about selected class changes
The notes do not give one overarching reason for every adjustment. For some, Blizzard explains the specific progression or gameplay problem it intends to address.

Mage: Wake of Fire
Blizzard said the previous duration could make Wake of Fire awkward to use while leveling: the Mage might need to restore mana between combat encounters. The longer duration is intended to make that experience smoother.
Paladin: Holy Strike
Blizzard said buying the next rank of Holy Strike did not always feel like an upgrade at early ranks. It adjusted the damage progression to address that issue.
Rank #2
- A pre paid, 60 day subscription to world of warcraft
- Requires world of warcraft standard game box contains game card only
Elemental Shaman: talent progression
Blizzard moved a talent that improves Elemental functionality earlier in the tree because an early critical-strike-damage talent was less rewarding for the specialization while leveling, when players had less critical-strike chance. The official developer note says: “Critical Strike damage increases early on in trees are exciting for other specializations, but its not as exciting for the core specialization while leveling, since they don’t have enough critical strike chance to really appreciate it.” Blizzard also said it plans to use the freed space to add more for Enhancement in the future.
Those explanations apply to the named changes; they are not evidence that every adjustment has an individually stated rationale or that every player agrees with Blizzard’s reasoning.

Notable beta tuning figures—and what they mean
These are settings Blizzard published in dated beta notes, not independent measurements of class performance. The October 8 post preserves earlier entries, so the relevant update date matters.
| Class or mechanic | Published change | Notes date and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Druid Wrath | Base damage increased by approximately 50%. | September 24, 2026 notes, preserved in the October 8-updated post. |
| Warrior Rage from basic-attack critical strikes | Increased to 75%. | October 1, 2026 notes included in the post. |
| Additional Warrior Rage from critical strikes | Raised to 100% from 75%. | October 1, 2026 notes included in the post. This is a separate mechanic from the basic-attack critical-strike entry above. |
| Paladin Righteous Fury | Holy threat increase reduced to 60% from 90%. | September 24, 2026 notes, preserved in the October 8-updated post. |
Because these are beta values, they may change before launch. They do not show how much a class’s performance changed in actual play or how many players want a further adjustment.

What players are asking for—and why it does not establish a consensus
An official forum topic listing observed October 9 includes the question “Why nerf prot pally?” That is evidence that some players are publicly questioning Protection Paladin tuning, not a measure of how common that view is.

Responses to the September 24 notes on the official forums also diverged: one commenter argued the Protection changes made tank balance more reasonable, while another felt Paladins had received too much favorable attention. In a Reddit discussion of the October 8 notes, one user complained that the build did not address Warrior Rage generation, while other commenters responded positively to changes or bug fixes. A separate October 2 discussion praised Blizzard for responding to feedback while raising concerns about other classes.

Requests for more tuning are visible; their prevalence is not established.
Quick Recap
How to read the notes before launch
- Check the date attached to a value: the October 8 post includes earlier September 24 and October 1 entries.
- Separate a balance adjustment from a bug fix or quality-of-life change; the post contains all three kinds of updates.
- Treat Blizzard’s stated rationale as applying to the specific change it explains, rather than as a universal explanation for the patch.
- Read forum and social comments as individual reactions unless a representative poll or other reliable measure is available.
