Microsoft documents wscapi.dll as the DLL used by Windows Security Center APIs, including WscGetSecurityProviderHealth. These APIs let desktop software check security-provider status, including antivirus, firewall, automatic updates, User Account Control, and the Security Center service.

A normal Windows installation commonly has the file in:

C:WindowsSystem32wscapi.dll

On 64-bit Windows, 32-bit applications use Windows file-system redirection and may access the corresponding 32-bit system-file view under SysWOW64. Do not treat System32 as simply “the 32-bit folder” or SysWOW64 as simply “the 64-bit folder.” Windows chooses the correct view for the application.

Microsoft does not provide a standalone public wscapi.dll download. The correct copy is supplied and serviced by Windows.

If Windows Update cannot provide repair files, Microsoft documents using a matching installation source:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:RepairSourceWindows /LimitAccess

Replace C:RepairSourceWindows with the path to a matching Windows installation source. The source should correspond to the installed Windows edition and version.

Repeatedly running SFC without checking what it repaired rarely helps. Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine

In Windows Security:

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Type Windows Security and open it.
3. Select Virus & threat protection.
4. Click Protection history.

For a Microsoft Store application:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Apps.
3. Choose Installed apps.

Check the affected program:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select System, then About.
3. Check System type to see whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
4. Check the application’s documentation or installer for its supported architecture.
5. Install the application build intended for your Windows installation.

Do not replace a 64-bit or 32-bit file merely because the filename matches. Windows supplies the appropriate system-file view to applications, and manually mixing files from different Windows builds can create a worse compatibility problem.

Fix 6: Update or reinstall relevant drivers
