The first hours of Wuthering Waves are easier to manage if you focus on three things: follow the game’s guidance tools, build account progress through missions and exploration, and practice dodging while learning combat. You do not need a perfect Echo set or a single “best” activity to make useful progress.
1. Use the Guidebook when you need a next step
The Guidebook is the best starting point when you are unsure what to do. It brings together daily activities, milestones, repeatable activities, and tutorials, so you can find progression tasks and learn where particular resources come from. Google Play’s starter tips for Wuthering Waves describe it as a way to find guidance and activities rather than leaving you to guess.
2. Check the Region Guide for unlocks
The Guidebook tracks tasks; the Region Guide helps explain feature availability. Kuro Games’ Version 3.0 notes say players can jump to a feature that has unlocked or inspect the conditions for one that remains locked. This description is specific to Version 3.0; menus and features may change in later updates, so use the live game’s labels as your reference.
3. Treat Union Level as your account progression gate
Union Level is account-wide progression, not a character level. You earn Union EXP through activities such as missions, events, and spending Waveplates. As the level rises, the game opens functions and raises Resonator and Weapon level caps. Some Union Level milestones also make enemies harder, so a new cap or feature can arrive alongside a tougher world.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
For that reason, treat level-ups as signals to review your team and equipment—not as a reason to rush every available activity. The Prydwen progression guide also describes Union Level as a driver of account unlocks and world difficulty; check current in-game requirements because progression details can be updated.
4. Explore while completing progression tasks
Exploration is not separate from progression. Traveling through the world brings you into contact with enemies whose Echoes you can collect, and lets you search for Sonance Caskets. Google Play’s guide says Caskets can be exchanged in Jinzhou for rewards that include experience and leveling materials. When a task points you toward a new area, take time to look around rather than rushing only to the marker.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
5. Collect Echoes as you encounter enemies
Echoes are equipment that can provide stats and an ability, and collecting them contributes to Data Bank progress. Enemy encounters can yield Echoes, but a drop is not guaranteed every time. Pick them up as you explore and let your collection grow naturally; early on, that is more useful than stopping after every fight to chase a particular random drop.
6. Learn Echo loadouts before chasing perfect stats
A basic Echo setup is enough to begin learning the system. The Prydwen Echoes guide describes five Echo slots, a total cost limit that can be increased through the Data Dock, and active Echo abilities. Since that guide is secondary and may not reflect every current interface detail, check your own Echo screen for live slot, cost, and upgrade information.

- Versatile compatibility: supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S consoles and PC Win10 and above (including the game platform Steam).
- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
As you acquire Echoes, focus first on equipping a functional loadout and understanding what each piece does. Save the search for ideal stats and combinations for later, when you know which Resonators you actually use and what their builds need.
7. Spend Waveplates periodically, based on what you need
Waveplates are used to claim rewards from activities including Simulator fights and Tacet Fields. They refill over time, so a full reserve cannot receive additional replenishment while it remains full. Spend some periodically if you are playing regularly, but choose an activity according to your immediate goal—such as materials for an upgrade—instead of assuming one activity is always the best farm.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.8. Practice dodging and Extreme Evasion
Make dodging part of your combat practice from the beginning. Google Play’s starter guidance highlights reliable dodging as an important survival habit. Watch enemy attack cues, evade rather than absorbing every hit, and learn the timing of Extreme Evasion through practice. The point is to improve your control and survival, not to expect a guaranteed reward every time you evade.

9. Read build guidance before investing heavily
For a character-specific plan, look for the Guide Depot rather than treating general beginner advice as a build. Kuro Games’ Version 2.4 notes describe Guide Depot recommendations covering Echoes, upgrade priorities, Resonance Chains, weapons, and teammates. The notes also caution that guide data refreshes may be delayed, so use it as a useful reference and check whether recommendations match the current version before committing scarce upgrade resources.
10. On returning after an update, check what changed
Major updates can add temporary aids or new combat mechanics that are useful only in that version or event. For example, Kuro Games’ Version 3.0 notes describe a Resonator Leveling Aid during Reprise of Tides and the Tune Break combat mechanic. Those are examples from that patch, not standing promises for future versions. When returning after a break, read the current version notes and inspect newly unlocked features rather than assuming an old routine still covers everything.
