On a standard Featured Resonator Convene, you are guaranteed a 5-star Resonator within 80 pulls—but that first 5-star is not guaranteed to be the featured character. If it is not featured, your next 5-star is guaranteed to be. Starting from zero pity without that guarantee, the documented worst case is 160 pulls for the featured Resonator. Featured banner guarantee count carries between Featured Resonator events until you obtain a 5-star. Reverb Resonator Convene has separate, Reverb-to-Reverb carryover rules.
What pity guarantees on a Featured Resonator Convene
Pity is the count of pulls since your last 5-star result. On a standard Featured Resonator Convene, the cited character-event guide lists a maximum of 80 pulls to a 5-star. That is a rarity guarantee, not a promise that the featured character will be the first 5-star you get. Prydwen Institute’s character event guide lists a 0.8% base 5-star rate and a 6% rate for a 4-star Resonator or Weapon. These rates describe chances, not a fixed schedule for which pull will produce a result.
How the 50/50 works
The featured check happens when you obtain a 5-star: that result has a 50% chance to be the featured Resonator. This is not a 50% chance on each ordinary pull. If the 5-star is not featured, you have lost the 50/50, and the next 5-star on a Featured Resonator Convene is guaranteed to be featured.
How many pulls to reserve
From a fresh pity counter with no featured guarantee active, 160 pulls is the documented worst-case reserve: up to 80 pulls for a 5-star that loses the 50/50, followed by up to 80 more for the guaranteed featured 5-star. This is a maximum under the cited guide’s rules, not a prediction of typical cost. If you already have pity or the featured guarantee, your remaining maximum is lower.

Two pieces of information determine your position on a Featured Resonator banner:
- Pity: how many pulls you have made since your last 5-star. A 5-star result resets this counter.
- Featured status: whether your next 5-star is subject to the 50/50 or is guaranteed to be the featured Resonator after a previous loss.
For example, losing a 50/50 changes your featured status, but it does not itself deliver the featured character. You still need to reach another 5-star; that result is then guaranteed featured. Check the in-game Convene details and your pull history rather than relying on memory, especially if you have switched banner categories.
Does pity carry over to the next character banner?
Yes. Kuro Games’ Featured Resonator event notices say that the guarantee count is shared among Featured Resonator Convene events and carried over until a 5-star Resonator is obtained. The official Kuro Games notice states that the count is “shared among all Featured Resonator Convene events.” A later Kuro Games banner notice corroborates the same carryover rule.
In practice, if you stop pulling before a 5-star, your accumulated Featured Resonator pity remains for a later Featured Resonator Convene. The featured guarantee also matters: if you had lost a 50/50, the next 5-star remains guaranteed featured under the cited character-event rules. Once you obtain a 5-star, the rarity counter resets; check the current banner details for the applicable guarantee terms.
Reverb banners use a separate carryover category
Reverb Resonator Convene is a different banner category, so do not assume its counter and featured status are interchangeable with standard Featured Resonator Convene. Kuro Games’ version 3.5 Starpath Reverbs notice says guarantee count is shared among Reverb Resonator Convene events and carries to the next Reverb banner until a 5-star is obtained. It also describes a 50% chance for a 5-star result to be the featured selectable Resonator and at least one 4-star-or-higher item every 10 attempts.
Those statements describe the Reverb category in that version 3.5 notice. Check the in-game details for the banner you are actually pulling on; the notice’s event lineup and dates should not be treated as a current lineup.
Quick check before spending pulls
- Open the current Convene and read its in-game details to confirm whether it is a Featured Resonator or Reverb Resonator banner.
- Check your pull history to identify how many pulls have passed since the last 5-star on that banner category.
- Record whether your next 5-star is still subject to the 50/50 or is guaranteed featured after a loss.
- Estimate your remaining maximum using the 80-pull limit to a 5-star and, if no featured guarantee is active, allow for a second 5-star in the worst case.
The cited sources establish the base rates and maximum guarantees above; they do not establish a soft-pity threshold or a per-pull probability curve, so a more precise pull-by-pull forecast is not supported here.
