Xbox App Brings Installed PC Games From Multiple Stores Into One Library

Microsoft’s Xbox PC app brings installed games from supported storefronts into one library, but it does not merge their stores or replace their launchers.

Microsoft’s Xbox PC app can show and launch installed games from Xbox and supported third-party PC storefronts in one library. It is an aggregation feature—not a merger of game stores: the announcements describe access to games and storefront apps, not a combined checkout or replacement for the original launchers.

What Microsoft added to the Xbox PC app

Xbox first announced an Insider preview of an aggregated gaming library on June 23, 2025. The feature later became generally available, according to Xbox’s September 15, 2025 announcement. Installed games from supported storefronts can appear in the app’s My Library and Most Recent views, alongside Xbox games.

In the September announcement, Xbox VP of Experiences Jason Beaumont described a library showing installed games from Xbox, Xbox Game Pass, Battle.net, and “other leading PC storefronts.” Xbox also added a My Apps tab for finding, downloading, and launching third-party apps and storefronts. These are ways to gather access points in one interface; Xbox did not say that users can buy games from other stores through a shared Xbox checkout.

Can the Xbox app launch Steam or Epic Games Store games?

Xbox’s announcements name Battle.net and refer to other leading storefronts, but do not provide a complete supported-store list. GameSpot’s September 16, 2025 report on the rollout specifically listed Steam, Epic Games Store, and Battle.net. That supports saying the Xbox app can surface installed games from those stores, but it does not establish that every title from each store will appear or launch successfully.

  • VERSATILE CONNECTIVITY — Connect via USB-C for plug-and-play on console and PC, or quickly pair and switch between supported devices with XBOX Wireless and Bluetooth support.
  • BUILT-IN AUDIO SUPPORT — Plug in compatible headsets using the 3.5mm audio jack for direct voice chat and immersive in-game sound.

The feature is centered on games that are already installed. The Xbox announcements do not say that the app imports every uninstalled game you own into a combined catalog. Nor do they say that it replaces Steam, Epic Games Launcher, Battle.net, or other storefront clients; game ownership and store relationships remain with the relevant providers.

How to find or hide third-party games

  1. Open the Xbox app on your Windows PC. Sign in as you normally would to access its library.
  2. Open My Library or Most Recent. Installed games from supported storefronts can appear alongside Xbox titles.
  3. Use My Apps to access storefront apps. Xbox describes this tab as a place to find, download, and launch third-party apps and storefronts.
  4. Hide storefront entries if you prefer. In the Xbox app, go to Settings > Library & Extensions and adjust which storefronts are shown. Xbox introduced this control in its June 2025 Insider preview announcement.

If a particular game is missing, the announcements do not establish that every store or every game is supported. The feature’s stated behavior is to show installed games from supported storefronts, so the game’s installation and storefront support matter.

What Xbox Mode adds—and where it is available

Xbox Mode is a separate, controller-optimized full-screen interface for Windows 11, rather than a change to who owns or sells games. On April 30, 2026, Xbox said it was beginning a gradual rollout in select markets to Windows 11 laptops, desktops, and tablets. Its interface provides access to an aggregated game library, including the Xbox Game Pass catalog and installed games from leading PC storefronts.

Xbox described availability as rolling out over several weeks. The announcement therefore does not establish that Xbox Mode is available on every Windows 11 device or in every market. It also does not make a controller a requirement for using the Xbox app’s aggregated library.

What the feature does not mean

  • It is not a unified store. The announcements describe a library and easier access to storefront apps, not a combined purchase flow.
  • It is not a promise of universal coverage. Xbox says “supported” or “leading” storefronts; it has not published an exhaustive list in the cited announcements.
  • It does not establish that third-party launchers disappear. The feature is described as making games and storefront apps easier to access, not replacing their clients.
  • It is not the same as Xbox adding games to its own catalog. Microsoft’s December 2024 claim that nearly 400 titles had become discoverable or purchasable in the Xbox app concerned that app’s own discovery and purchasing catalog—not the later third-party aggregated-library feature. The same post’s figure of more than 100 Xbox Play Anywhere titles also describes that catalog update, not storefront aggregation.

What to expect from the library presentation

GameSpot reported on September 16, 2025, shortly after general availability, that some non-Xbox entries lacked cover art and metadata. That is a dated observation about the rollout, not confirmation of how the app presents those games today. Xbox’s cited announcements do not promise a uniform metadata or customization experience across all storefronts.
