These are leak claims, not a Microsoft announcement: the reported records were no longer available for verification, and Microsoft has not confirmed the controller, its features, price or release date.
What the Xbox Elite Series 3 leak reportedly includes
Windows Central says the feature list came from records users claimed to have scraped from the Xbox Design Lab storefront provider; the outlet reported that the APIs had been taken down by the time its reporter saw the listing. VGC describes configuration records and 3D component models reportedly spotted by Digital Foundry and shared by a Reddit user. Both accounts concern purported backend material, not confirmed hardware. Windows Central and VGC advise treating the claims cautiously.
| Reported feature | What the leak claims | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Thumbsticks | Hall-effect options in standard, loose and tight tensions, plus a TMR option. Low-friction or silent sticks and standard or long stick variants are also mentioned. | Actual drift resistance, longevity, precision, feel, or which option performs best. |
| Haptics and triggers | A motor description reportedly names “Impulse Triggers (ERMs) & Advanced Haptics (VCAs) Motors.” VGC describes VCAs as voice coil actuators and characterizes the feedback as a form of HD rumble. | Supported games, feedback intensity, battery impact or hands-on performance. |
| D-pad | Standard, cross and “grippy” or faceted designs. | Comfort, accuracy or any practical advantage between designs. |
| Paddles and customization | Multiple paddle shapes and lengths, metal or colored faceplates, engraving, and 27 mapped topper-and-paddle combinations, according to Windows Central’s account of the leak. | Whether every option will reach a final product, or which combinations will be sold. |
| Audio control | An audio scroll wheel is reportedly listed. | Its function. VGC suggests headset-volume adjustment, but that behavior is not confirmed. |
| Models | Windows Central says the leak describes four SKUs divided between base and “complete” models, including versions with and without the full haptic motors. | Final model names, configurations, price or availability; the SKU structure is especially provisional. |
Will the Elite Series 3 have Hall-effect or TMR sticks?
The October leak claims both technologies are among the possible configurations. Hall-effect sticks are reportedly offered at standard, loose and tight tension, while TMR appears as a separate option. The reports do not establish whether TMR will have the same tension choices.
VGC describes both sensing approaches as options intended to address stick drift, but that is not proof of real-world performance. No tested Series 3 unit or independently verified specification is available in these reports, so there is no evidence yet to compare their durability, precision or feel. The low-friction or silent stick variants are also leak claims rather than confirmed features.

What haptics and D-pad options are rumored?
The reported motor list pairs impulse triggers using ERMs with advanced haptics using VCAs. VGC interprets the latter as voice coil actuators and likens the feedback to HD rumble. The leak does not establish how games would use it, how strong it would feel, or whether it would affect battery life.
Three D-pad styles are alleged: standard, cross and a grippy, faceted design. There is no hands-on evidence to say which is more comfortable or accurate. The same leak reportedly lists different paddle shapes and lengths, faceplate materials and colors, and engraving, but Microsoft has not confirmed these customization choices.
When is the Xbox Elite Series 3 coming out, and how much will it cost?
No release date or price is confirmed in the October reports. Windows Central says the price is unknown, and Microsoft has not announced the controller in the material reviewed. The alleged model count does not establish a launch lineup or availability, so there is no reliable basis to order one or budget for it yet.
How the October leak fits with earlier reports
In May 2026, Pure Xbox reported apparent controller images and feature notes attributed to Brazilian Anatel regulator material. That earlier report mentioned Bluetooth, a 3.5 mm jack, an interchangeable D-pad, paddles, two scroll wheels and trigger locks, while noting that price and release date were unknown. These details come from a different reported leak and should not be merged automatically with the October Design Lab claims: they could describe a prototype, different configurations or inaccurate information. Pure Xbox reported the earlier material.

That adds another account of the circulating claims, not independent confirmation from Microsoft. Insider Gaming’s report includes its summary.

The Elite Series 2 is the concrete predecessor to compare against. VGC reports it launched in November 2019 with USB-C, three hair-trigger locks, adjustable thumbstick tension, revised rubber grips and a charging dock. Those are predecessor features, not confirmation that Series 3 will retain or improve them. VGC’s report provides the launch-era comparison.
- Consider the Series 2 now if you need a controller and have found a current price and configuration that suit you. Its present stock, price and fit depend on your market and needs.
- Wait for official Series 3 details if Hall-effect or TMR options, different tension choices or the rumored haptics would affect your decision and your current controller still works for you. There is no confirmed launch date or price to compare against yet.
Windows Central also mentions its reporter’s personal Series 2 units had shoulder-button and rubber-grip issues. That is one person’s experience, not a reliability statistic or a guarantee about any individual controller.
