Quests are the broad category; a streak is one recurring quest format. Xbox’s current Rewards with Xbox page lists daily, weekly, monthly and limited-time quests, and gives weekly streaks as an example of an exclusive quest for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members. Both activities award Microsoft Rewards points rather than separate currencies.
The exact task, point value, deadline and reset behavior can change by account and market. Use the live Rewards hub—not an old guide or a remembered streak length—to see which activity is available to you and what its own instructions require.

What Xbox means by a “quest”
A quest is an activity that can earn Microsoft Rewards points. Xbox groups several schedules under that label: daily quests, weekly quests, monthly quests and limited-time offers. The activity might involve an eligible game or another action described in the card shown to you. “Quest” therefore describes the type of Rewards activity, not one fixed task or one fixed reward.
Quest availability is dynamic. Two people can see different cards because their account, subscription, country or region, or the offer period differs. A quest may disappear after its deadline, reach a daily limit, or be replaced by another offer. The name alone does not tell you how long it lasts or how many points it pays.

Older articles often use “Game Pass Quests” as if it were a separate rewards program. In current Xbox terminology, the useful distinction is simpler: look in Rewards with Xbox for the quest cards currently attached to your account. The card—not the generic word “quest”—is the authority for the requirement.
What a streak is—and what it is not
A streak is best understood as a recurring quest in which progress is connected across repeated eligible activity. Xbox’s current Rewards page specifically names weekly streaks as an example of an exclusive quest for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members. That makes “streak” a format or example inside the wider quest system, not a second points wallet.
The public overview does not define one universal number of consecutive days, sessions or weeks for every streak. It also does not promise one reset time, a grace period after a missed activity, or a standard bonus. Those details can belong to the individual offer and may vary by market. Avoid relying on a streak length quoted in an old video or forum post.

Do you need Game Pass Premium or Ultimate?
Xbox says Rewards members aged 18 and older can complete daily, weekly and monthly quests. It separately says Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members unlock exclusive quests, giving monthly packs and weekly streaks as examples. Thus, a streak shown as an exclusive quest may require Premium or Ultimate, while the broader quest category is not limited to those two tiers.
That relationship does not mean every Premium or Ultimate subscriber receives every streak. Xbox says availability should be checked in the Rewards hub, and offers can depend on the market. A missing streak can therefore reflect the current offer schedule or regional eligibility rather than a problem with your console.
Ultimate members may also see higher earning rates on some gameplay and eligible Store-purchase activities, according to Xbox. The rate for a particular activity is offer-specific; verify the live card and official terms before treating any displayed multiplier or rate as applying to all quests.

Quests and streaks award Microsoft Rewards points when their stated conditions are met. They do not create cash, Xbox account credit by default, or a separate “streak” balance. Microsoft Support states that Rewards points have no cash value.
Points can be redeemed through the Rewards catalog under the terms available to your account and region. A redemption shown to one member may not appear in another market. Microsoft also says points expire after 12 months without earning activity, while daily limits and other terms vary by country or region.

Where to find your current quests and streaks
Xbox directs members to the Rewards hub for the opportunities available now. Use that hub as the source of truth because activity names, requirements, point values and deadlines can change.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox and Rewards membership.
- Open the current Rewards hub for Xbox.
- Review the cards or sections for daily, weekly, monthly and limited-time activities.
- Look for a card explicitly labeled as a streak or another recurring quest.
- Open the card and read the eligibility text before starting. Confirm that your account and subscription qualify.
- Note the required action, progress measure, point award and deadline exactly as displayed.
- Complete the activity using the method the card specifies. Do not substitute a similar action unless the card says it qualifies.
- Return to the hub to confirm progress and follow any separate claim instruction shown on the card.
The interface may look different across web, console and mobile experiences. An Xbox Wire guide published on November 17, 2020 described Quests in the Game Pass mobile app and the Game Pass section on console. That is historical navigation context, not a guarantee that those paths or labels remain current. If an older path no longer matches your screen, use the present Rewards hub.

Because Xbox does not publish one complete ruleset for every streak, inspect five pieces of information before you begin:
- Qualifying action: the exact game, activity or purchase that counts.
- Progress unit: whether the card measures a play session, a task completion, a day, a week or another unit.
- Schedule: the displayed start and end dates or recurring window.
- Completion and claim: whether points are awarded automatically or whether the card asks you to claim them.
- Reset language: any statement about missed periods, expiration or restarting progress.
If one of those details is absent, do not fill the gap with a rule from a different streak. The safest interpretation is the wording and progress display attached to your own offer.
Cadence, deadlines and resets
Quests can be daily, weekly, monthly or limited-time. Those labels describe the offer’s cadence, not a universal completion window for every activity. A weekly quest may end at the time shown on its card; a limited-time offer can disappear earlier than a monthly activity.
“Weekly streak” is the wording Xbox currently uses for its exclusive example, but it does not establish a single streak length or a universal reset day. The hub may show a countdown, date range or progress state. Record that information if maintaining a streak matters to you, and check again after completing the qualifying action.
A completed action that has not appeared in progress is not proof that the offer failed. First allow for the hub to refresh, then reread the activity’s qualification and deadline. If the card says a claim is required, complete that step before expecting the points to post.
Membership, market and account checks
Eligibility has several layers, so check each one separately. First, Xbox’s general statement applies to Rewards members who are 18 or older for daily, weekly and monthly quests. Second, an exclusive card can require Game Pass Premium or Ultimate. Third, the offer can still be limited by country or region, account state and the period in which Xbox is running it.
That is why two family members, or two subscribers on different plans, may not see identical cards. A subscription tier can unlock the category of exclusive activity without guaranteeing a particular card on a particular day. Likewise, seeing a quest in an older screenshot does not establish that it is running in your market now.

Use the eligibility text on the card as the final check. If it names a plan, age threshold, region or other condition that your account does not meet, changing consoles or repeating the gameplay action will not make that offer eligible. Do not treat a subscription as paying for itself through points; Xbox only establishes the relationship between certain tiers and exclusive quest access.

Points may appear after the qualifying action, or the card may require a separate claim. Make that distinction part of your routine: completion and claiming are not necessarily the same step. A progress bar can be full while the points remain pending until you select the claim control shown by the hub.
Daily limits and other terms vary by country or region. If an activity stops counting, check whether the card has reached a stated limit before troubleshooting your game or console. The point total is also offer-specific; a monthly pack, daily action and streak should not be assumed to have equal value.
Microsoft Support says Rewards points have no cash value and expire after 12 months with no earning activity. That does not mean an individual quest lasts 12 months—the expiration rule concerns the Rewards balance under Microsoft’s terms. Redeem through the catalog available to your account, and remember that another market may show different options.
A practical routine for recurring activities
- Check before playing: open the card and note the qualifying action, end date and point amount.
- Confirm the tier: verify whether the card is open to all eligible Rewards members or marked as Premium or Ultimate exclusive.
- Track the unit: identify whether progress is counted per day, week, session or completion.
- Perform only the listed action: similar gameplay or purchases may not qualify.
- Verify the update: refresh the Rewards hub and inspect the progress indicator.
- Claim when prompted: follow the card’s claim instruction instead of assuming completion posts automatically.
- Recheck the schedule: recurring offers can end, reset or change when the next activity window opens.
This routine avoids the most common mistake: completing an activity from memory while the live card is asking for something slightly different. It also leaves a record of the deadline when a streak’s reset wording is important to you.

Troubleshooting when a quest or streak is missing
The activity does not appear
Confirm that you are signed in to the account you use for Rewards, that you meet the stated age requirement, and that your subscription tier matches any exclusive-quest wording. Next check the market-specific hub again: Xbox says availability can depend on market and offer period. A missing card may simply mean the activity is not currently offered to that account.
Progress did not update
Reopen the card and compare the action you performed with its exact qualifying language. Similar gameplay or Store activity may not count. Check the deadline and any displayed daily limit, then refresh the hub and look for a separate claim control.
The streak restarted or ended
Do not assume a universal missed-day policy. The public Xbox description does not spell out reset behavior for every streak. Read the live card for its reset wording; if none is shown, the hub’s current progress state is the only reliable indication of whether the offer remains active.
The points amount looks different
Point values and earning rates can vary by activity, plan, country or region. Compare the current card with the applicable terms rather than an old screenshot. Ultimate’s higher rates apply only to some eligible activities, not automatically to every quest.

An old menu path no longer works
Do not assume the feature was removed simply because an app or console menu moved. The November 17, 2020 Xbox Wire guide reflects the interface at that time. Return to the current Rewards hub and use the card links presented there.

“Every quest is a streak.”
No. Quests include one-off and recurring activities across several cadences. A streak is one recurring format within that larger group.
“Every streak is available to every Game Pass member.”
No. Xbox identifies weekly streaks among exclusive quests for Premium and Ultimate members. Availability still depends on the live offer and market.
“A streak has its own currency.”
No. Both formats use Microsoft Rewards points. Microsoft says those points have no cash value, and redemption options depend on the catalog and applicable terms.

“A rule from a 2020 guide is still current.”
Not necessarily. The November 17, 2020 Xbox Wire guide is useful historical context for how Quests were presented then. Current names, navigation and requirements should be taken from today’s Rewards hub.
“A higher Ultimate earning rate applies to everything.”
No. Xbox describes higher rates only for some gameplay and eligible Store-purchase activities. Check the individual offer rather than applying a blanket multiplier to every quest or streak.
Which one should you pursue?
There is no separate choice between two reward systems. Start with any quest whose requirement fits your available time and account eligibility. If a streak appears, treat it as a recurring quest: read its schedule and reset language, then decide whether maintaining the required cadence is worthwhile.
- Choose a daily or weekly quest when you want a clearly labeled, short-window activity.
- Choose a monthly quest when you prefer a longer completion window.
- Try a limited-time offer only when its deadline and qualifying action are clear.
- Prioritize a streak when you can reliably meet the recurring requirement shown on its card.
The practical decision is therefore not “quests or streaks.” It is whether a currently available activity has rules you understand, a deadline you can meet and a point award that is useful under your region’s Rewards terms.
Bottom line
Xbox Game Pass Quests are the umbrella category for Rewards activities. Xbox Streaks are a recurring quest example—currently described as weekly streaks among the exclusive quests for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members. Both pay Microsoft Rewards points. Because streak length, reset behavior, point values and availability are not universal, open the current Rewards hub and follow the instructions on the specific card attached to your account.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Xbox Game Pass Quests and Xbox Streaks?
A quest is the broad Rewards activity category, covering daily, weekly, monthly and limited-time offers. A streak is a recurring quest format within that category, not a separate rewards balance.
Do I need Game Pass Premium or Ultimate for Xbox streaks?
Xbox lists weekly streaks as examples of exclusive quests for Premium and Ultimate members. The broader quest category is also available to eligible Rewards members aged 18 and older, but every offer remains subject to account and market availability.
Where do I see my current Xbox Rewards quests?
Open the current Rewards hub linked to your Microsoft account. Xbox directs members there for the cards, requirements, deadlines, point values and claim instructions available now.
How long is an Xbox streak?
Xbox’s public overview does not set one universal streak length. Read the specific streak card for its progress unit, schedule and reset wording rather than relying on an old guide or forum post.
Do quests and streaks use different points?
No. Both award Microsoft Rewards points when their listed conditions are met. Microsoft says those points have no cash value.
Why can’t I see a streak that someone else has?
Availability can depend on your Game Pass tier, age eligibility, account, country or region and the current offer period. A streak shown to another member is not proof that it is running for your account.
What happens if my quest progress does not update?
Compare your action with the card’s exact qualifying language, check the deadline and any daily limit, refresh the hub and look for a separate claim control. Similar gameplay or Store activity may not qualify.
Do Microsoft Rewards points expire?
Microsoft Support says points expire after 12 months without earning activity. Daily limits, redemption options and other terms vary by country or region.
The Bottom Line
Quests are the umbrella; streaks are a recurring quest example. Check the live Rewards hub for your account’s eligibility, schedule, reset rules, point value and claim steps.
