Xbox Game Pass Ultimate suits players who want one subscription covering a large game library, online console multiplayer, and cloud streaming on devices that cannot run Xbox games natively. It is a weaker buy if your main reason is day-one Call of Duty, because Microsoft changed that policy in April 2026. Pricing differs by country, so confirm the monthly price in your local Xbox store before subscribing.
What Ultimate includes
Xbox’s December 19, 2025 guide to Xbox Cloud Gaming describes Ultimate as its broadest plan. The benefits Xbox lists for it are:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Unlimited cloud gaming, with streaming on supported devices
- A catalog of more than 400 games across console, PC, and other devices
- Selected day-one releases from Xbox Game Studios and partners (not every new release)
- Online multiplayer on Xbox consoles
- EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics
- In-game benefits and Rewards with Xbox
Treat these as a dated snapshot. Game counts, partner benefits, and day-one eligibility change, and the Microsoft Store India listing describes the same core set with an explicit Call of Duty exclusion from day-one titles. Check the current benefit list on the Xbox storefront for your market before you buy.
The Call of Duty change (April 2026)
Xbox Wire’s April 21, 2026 post, published for the French market, says future Call of Duty releases will no longer join Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. Instead, they will be added in the following holiday season, roughly a year after release. Call of Duty titles already in the catalog stay available, and the post says Ultimate continues to include most other major releases on day one.

Cloud gaming devices
Xbox Cloud Gaming is, in Xbox Wire’s words, “a benefit included with most Game Pass plans that allows you to play games anywhere you have a compatible, internet-connected device (such as a PC, TV, or even your phone).” That December 2025 guide lists these device categories:

Fire TV devices
In June 2024, Xbox announced the Xbox app on select Amazon Fire TV devices, naming the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023). The announcement gave launch prices of $59.99 and $49.99 for those models. Those figures are historical. Check current model support and country availability before choosing a device.

The announcement did not publish a full model list or confirm that rollout is complete, so verify a specific TV before buying for it.

Controllers for cloud play
Xbox says cloud gaming works with a range of controllers and other input methods. Its Fire TV instructions name a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller as part of setup, so a Bluetooth wireless game controller is a practical choice for a TV or streaming stick. Confirm that your exact controller works with the device and game you plan to use.

Streaming quality and the owned-games library
Xbox’s February 25, 2026 update announced a rollout of cloud streaming up to 1440p with higher bitrate for Ultimate members on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S. This is a rollout-specific feature for those consoles, not a resolution guarantee on every device.
Xbox’s April 30, 2026 update added that eligible members of Ultimate, Premium, and Essential can stream from a library of more than 1,000 games they own, across supported devices. Only supported owned titles qualify, so a game you own may still be unavailable to stream.
Xbox’s December 2025 guide also reported that overall Xbox Cloud Gaming hours had risen 45% year over year. That is an Xbox-published usage figure, not an independent measure of adoption.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIs Game Pass Ultimate worth it for you?
Ultimate is likely a good fit if:
- You play on several devices, including a TV, handheld, or PC, and want one subscription across them
- You want to try games by streaming before downloading them
- You play online multiplayer on an Xbox console and want that included
- You already own a supported library of games and want to stream them
Look elsewhere, or compare plans first, if:
- Day-one Call of Duty is your main reason for subscribing
- You play on one console and buy most games outright rather than rotating through a catalog
- Your internet connection is unstable, since cloud play depends on it
- Your local price or device list does not match the figures in this guide
To compare Ultimate with other plans, check the monthly price, library size, cloud allowances, day-one inclusions, online console multiplayer, and partner benefits in your local Xbox store.
