Choose Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a broad, multi-publisher library, cloud gaming, and day-one releases; choose Ubisoft+ Premium if you mainly want Ubisoft games, Premium editions, and eligible day-one access. The right choice depends on the games you want, your platform, and the plan’s current price in your region. “Xbox Game Pass” covers several tiers, and Ubisoft+ Classics is not the same plan as Ubisoft+ Premium.
What’s the difference between Xbox Game Pass and Ubisoft+?
Xbox Game Pass is a family of plans with libraries and features that vary by tier. Its Ultimate plan combines games from multiple publishers with benefits such as cloud gaming, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics. Ubisoft+ Premium focuses on Ubisoft’s catalog and includes Premium editions for eligible games, with some content limits depending on the game. The catalogs change, so check the live listings for the games and editions you actually want: Xbox Game Pass plans and the Ubisoft+ catalog.
These services are not a like-for-like comparison. Ultimate is the broadest Xbox plan in this comparison; Ubisoft+ Premium is a publisher-specific subscription. The lower Game Pass tiers and Ubisoft+ Classics offer different combinations of library access and features.
How do the plans compare?
| Plan | Library and releases | Notable features and platforms | US price shown by official source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | Xbox describes 500+ games across Xbox console, PC, and supported devices; includes new games on day one. | Cloud gaming, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, and Ubisoft+ Classics, among other benefits. Device, region, and title support varies. | Not stated on the cited Xbox pages. |
| Xbox Game Pass Premium | Xbox describes 200+ games across console, PC, and supported devices. New Xbox-published games join within 12 months of launch, rather than on day one. | Cloud gaming on supported devices. | Not stated on the cited Xbox pages. |
| Xbox Game Pass Essential | Xbox describes 50+ games; no new release titles on day one. | Online console multiplayer and in-game benefits. | Not stated on the cited Xbox pages. |
| PC Game Pass | PC-focused plan with day-one titles. | Includes EA Play. The Xbox overview says PC Game Pass does not include Xbox Cloud Gaming, so do not assume it has Ultimate’s full cross-device offer. | Not stated on the cited Xbox pages. |
| Ubisoft+ Classics | An evolving selection of Ubisoft games on PC, with standard editions. | PC plan; do not confuse it with Ubisoft+ Premium. | $7.99/month or $79.99/year on Ubisoft’s US plan selector. |
| Ubisoft+ Premium | Ubisoft lists 145+ PC games, new releases on day one, and early access when available. | PC through Ubisoft Connect and play on Xbox consoles. Includes Premium editions and DLC where available, but not necessarily all premium content for every game; monthly rewards are also listed. | $17.99/month or $179.99/year on Ubisoft’s US plan selector. |
Xbox’s game counts describe plan libraries across the listed device categories; Ubisoft’s 145+ figure is specifically for Premium on PC. These figures are not a measure of which catalog is better. Counts, availability, features, and prices can change and vary by region or plan. Ubisoft’s prices above are the amounts shown on its US selector, not global prices or a guarantee they will remain current. Check the current checkout price for your region and billing term before subscribing.

Which subscription fits your games and platform?
Choose Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for breadth and bundled features
- You want games from multiple publishers rather than primarily Ubisoft titles.
- You value day-one releases included with the plan.
- You expect to use cloud gaming or benefits such as EA Play, Fortnite Crew, or Ubisoft+ Classics.
Cloud gaming is available on supported devices that can include Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, handhelds, phones and tablets, selected TVs, Meta VR headsets, and a browser. That list does not mean every game or device works in every region: confirm support for your particular combination on Xbox’s plan and device information.
Choose Ubisoft+ Premium for Ubisoft games and editions
- The Ubisoft franchises you want to play are in the current Premium catalog.
- You want eligible Ubisoft releases on day one or early access when offered.
- You play on PC through Ubisoft Connect or on a supported Xbox console and value Premium editions or included DLC.
Premium editions do not guarantee every premium item or DLC for every game. Check the listing for each title in the Ubisoft+ catalog before subscribing.

Consider a different tier if your needs are narrower
For PC-only play, compare PC Game Pass with Ubisoft+ Premium based on the specific games you want: PC Game Pass offers a multi-publisher catalog and EA Play, while Ubisoft+ Premium centers on Ubisoft releases and editions. If you do not need day-one releases or Ultimate’s bundle, Xbox Game Pass Premium or Essential may be a better fit; compare their features with your device and multiplayer needs rather than assuming every tier includes the same benefits.
How to decide before you pay
- List the games you intend to play. Check each title in the current service catalog, including the edition and DLC you expect to receive. Do not subscribe based only on a headline game count.
- Match the plan to your device. Verify the exact game, plan, device, and region combination. Xbox download and streaming options differ by tier; Ubisoft+ Premium is available through Ubisoft Connect on PC and on Xbox consoles.
- Compare the current local price and billing term. Ubisoft’s US selector lists monthly and annual amounts, but local prices may differ. The cited Xbox pages do not establish a current US price, so compare the actual checkout prices for your selected plans rather than relying on an unsupported price-to-price estimate.
- Count only benefits you will use. Cloud gaming, console multiplayer, EA Play, Ubisoft+ Classics, Fortnite Crew, and monthly rewards are not interchangeable. Check which are included in the plan you are considering and whether they matter to you.
- Consider how long you need access. These are subscriptions, not permanent ownership of catalog games. A title can leave a library; check each provider’s terms before relying on ongoing access.
What happens when you cancel?
Xbox says access to Game Pass library games lasts until the subscription is canceled or expires, or a game leaves the library. Recurring billing is on by default and can be turned off in your Microsoft account or on a console; Xbox’s plan information describes the service.
