The Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023 presented 27 games, 21 of them slated for Xbox Game Pass and/or PC Game Pass, and it ended with a dedicated Starfield Direct from Bethesda Game Studios. The headline reveal was Starfield, which Xbox and Bethesda said would launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6, 2023, with day-one Game Pass availability. Everything below describes what was announced in June 2023. Release windows, platforms and availability were the companies’ plans at that time, not a statement of their current status.
How the June 2023 broadcast was scheduled
Xbox announced the double feature in a May 3, 2023 Xbox Wire post. The Xbox Games Showcase aired on June 11, 2023 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, and the Starfield Direct followed immediately. Viewing was offered on YouTube, Twitch and Facebook. The broadcast was announced with subtitles in more than 30 languages, American Sign Language, British Sign Language and English audio descriptions. A follow-up stream, the Xbox Games Showcase Extended, was scheduled for June 13, 2023.

Starfield Direct: what Bethesda showed
The Direct was Bethesda Game Studios’ deeper look at Starfield, and Bethesda’s official page describes it as covering exploration across 1,000 planets (Bethesda, June 2023). The recap covered the following areas.
Character creation
The Direct covered character customization and generation, which was one of the first systems the presentation addressed.
Main quest and companions
Bethesda showed the main quest and the companions and crew who join the player’s journey.

Ships: construction and upgrades
Ship construction and upgrades were a focus of the Direct, which framed them as a core part of how players move through the game’s space.
Exploration and outposts
The Direct described planetary exploration, including outposts, as one of the game’s main activities. Exploration across 1,000 planets is Bethesda’s June 2023 description of the scope.
Launch information as announced
Bethesda’s June 11, 2023 Starfield Direct recap stated: “Starfield launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6.” Xbox and Bethesda also said the game would be available on day one with Game Pass. The announcement covered launch platforms and dates only. Bethesda’s page includes a Buy Game link, but the 2023 material does not establish the physical edition, retail status or availability in any particular territory.

Xbox Series S 1TB and console supply
During the broadcast Xbox announced a black Xbox Series S with 1TB of storage, the most direct hardware announcement of the event. Xbox also said it had increased global Xbox Series X supply. These were announcements of a hardware configuration and of supply levels in June 2023. They do not establish current stock, regional availability or pricing, which should be checked directly with Xbox or a retailer.
What the 2023 announcements do and do not tell you
- The Starfield Direct immediately followed the June 11, 2023 showcase, and its scope was character systems, the main quest, companions, ships, exploration and outposts.
- The 27-game and 21-game counts are Xbox’s own June 2023 figures and reflect what was slated then, not a current catalog.
- Platform, date and Game Pass statements describe the plans announced in 2023. Confirm each title’s current status on Xbox’s own channels before relying on it.
