What was the Xbox Games Showcase 2025?

The event mixed four kinds of announcements: established franchises, new games, releases arriving on Xbox from other platforms, and updates or expansions for existing games. It was not a list of Xbox exclusives: many announced titles were also listed for PC, PlayStation, Steam, or other services.

Grounded 2
Obsidian announced Grounded 2 for Game Preview and Steam Early Access, with July 29, 2025 named as its launch date. How should you read the event’s release dates and platform claims?
The showcase included titles that were already available, specific 2025 dates, later-2025 windows, and 2026 announcements. Treat dates in this article as what Xbox said in June 2025, rather than as a current release calendar. The official recap is a record of the publisher’s announcements, not confirmation of later delays, launch outcomes, or present-day catalog status.
Xbox Wire also said the new games shown were Xbox Play Anywhere titles, playable across Xbox console, PC, and Xbox Ally with one purchase, and that the showcased games would run on Xbox Ally. That event-wide statement should not be read as meaning every game was exclusive to Xbox or available on every platform; platform support differed by title.
For Game Pass, the clearest specific access claim in the recap is that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 would launch day one on the service. The recap also identifies Game Pass as an access route for multiple titles, but it does not establish current catalog availability or service terms.

The 2025 presentation was a broad slate rather than a single-franchise event: sequels such as Black Ops 7, Gears of War: Reloaded, and The Outer Worlds 2 shared space with new partner games, updates to ongoing titles, and the ROG Xbox Ally handheld announcement. Its announcements covered multiple platforms, so “Xbox showcase” describes the event—not an exclusivity guarantee.
