How the April 19 target became a full-weekend test
Insider Gaming reported on April 15, 2024, that the Server Test Session was targeting Friday, April 19. Its report said the original plan was for a 12-hour session, with a possible extension through Sunday if internal testing went well and no unprecedented issues arose. On April 16, Ubisoft publicly announced the schedule as April 19–21, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Contemporary coverage reported that the test was available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. GameSpot’s April 16 coverage
What the test was for
The session was intended to check the game’s server status and provide information to prepare for launch. A contemporaneous report quoted the game’s website describing the goal as helping test the servers and provide “critical information to prepare for launch.” GameSpot’s coverage quoting the website

The reported platform list was PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The announced challenge rewards were digital in-game items:

Can you still join the XDefiant test?
No. The April 2024 Server Test Session has ended, and Ubisoft’s January 9, 2025 strategic update says XDefiant was discontinued in December 2024. The historical schedule and challenge rewards are not current participation or download instructions. Ubisoft’s January 9, 2025 strategic update
