Xiaomi launched the Redmi Monitor G24 IPS Edition in China in May 2024: a 23.8-inch, 1080p Fast IPS gaming monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate. Its presale price was 579 yuan, below a listed price of 799 yuan. That was a China-market launch offer, not a U.S. retail price or proof of global availability. A different G24 revision followed in November 2024, so buyers should check the model number before comparing specifications or prices.
Which Redmi G24 launched, and when?
The headline refers to the Redmi Monitor G24 IPS Edition, model A24FAA-RG, introduced in China in May 2024. “Fast IPS Edition” is a descriptive rendering of the product name used in coverage; it is not a separate monitor from the G24 IPS Edition. Contemporary launch reporting identifies this model and its specifications. ITHome’s May 2024 report covers the Chinese launch.
The name can be confusing because Xiaomi introduced another China-market version in November 2024: the P24FCA-RG. It kept the core 23.8-inch, 1080p, 180Hz IPS format, but has its own reported specifications and launch-price snapshots. The two models should not be treated as one unchanged product.
What are the original A24FAA-RG’s reported specifications?
Launch coverage reported the following for the May 2024 model. These are Chinese-market listing and report specifications, not independent lab measurements or confirmed specifications for every regional monitor sold under a similar name.

How the November P24FCA-RG revision differs
The November 2024 P24FCA-RG is a separate revision, not the first 180Hz G24. Chinese coverage reported 180Hz for both versions, while describing the newer model as improved in areas including color gamut and contrast. Its available reported details are:
| Specification | November 2024 P24FCA-RG |
|---|---|
| Screen and resolution | 23.8 inches; 1920 × 1080 |
| Panel and refresh rate | IPS/Fast IPS; 180Hz |

What did “affordable” mean at launch?
For the original A24FAA-RG, the reported Chinese listed price was 799 yuan and its presale price was 579 yuan. Contemporary coverage converted the presale figure to about $82, but that conversion is not a U.S. retail price and does not include import costs or establish local availability. A later Chinese shopping-event report advertised an effective 449 yuan after discounts and coupons; that was a temporary promotion, not the standard launch price. ITHome reported that June 2024 promotion.
The November P24FCA-RG’s 529-yuan report and 559-yuan first-sale report likewise should not be conflated with the May model’s presale price. In July 2026, a Chinese comparison listing showed roughly ¥499–¥549 for the P24FCA-RG; that is a marketplace price range, not an official global price. The comparison listing is specific to its market and date.
What 180Hz and Fast IPS mean in practice
A 180Hz screen can refresh up to 180 times per second, with about 5.56 milliseconds between refreshes. Compared with 60Hz or 75Hz, that can make motion, cursor movement and scrolling look smoother, especially in games that can deliver high frame rates. The benefit depends on the PC actually producing enough frames; demanding games may run well below 180fps on a budget GPU, while competitive shooters are more likely to make use of the extra refresh headroom.

- Please note that this protective film is made of flexible plastic.
- 99% transparency preserves the original screen's brightness and definition.
- 4H hardness protects your screen from daily scratches, scrapes, and normal signs of wear.
- Self-healing technology enables the film to recover from minor scratches in 48 hours.
- Bubble-free, fingerprint-free, dust-resistant. No sticky residue when removed.
Fast IPS describes a gaming-oriented IPS implementation intended to transition pixels faster. IPS generally brings wider viewing angles and more consistent color than many inexpensive TN alternatives, but the label alone does not establish measured response performance. It cannot guarantee clean motion, eliminate ghosting or inverse ghosting, or rule out backlight bleed. No independent response-time or motion test is established by the cited launch reports.
The advertised 1ms figure should not be read as a guaranteed real-world pixel transition in every mode. Xiaomi’s related global G24i page explicitly qualifies its 1ms claim as a laboratory result under optimal resolution and refresh settings, with performance varying by source, content and settings. Xiaomi’s G24i 2026 page provides that qualification for the related model family; it is not a test of the Redmi A24FAA-RG.
Image quality, HDR and desk setup
At 23.8 inches, 1080p is a practical budget-gaming resolution: it is less demanding to render at high frame rates than 1440p, though it gives less workspace and a less sharp image than a similarly sized higher-resolution screen. The newer revision’s reported 250-nit brightness and 1000:1 contrast point to an ordinary SDR-oriented IPS display, not a high-impact HDR screen. HDR support or signal compatibility does not itself mean local dimming, deep blacks or bright highlights; the cited reports do not establish premium HDR performance.

The P24FCA-RG was reported with a tilt-only stand and VESA 75 × 75mm mounting. That is enough to angle the screen or attach a compatible monitor arm, but not to adjust height using the supplied stand. The reported port list includes HDMI, DisplayPort and a 3.5mm audio output; the inspected reports do not establish USB-C video, a USB hub, built-in speakers, swivel or height adjustment.

The launch reports describe China-market products; they do not establish a simultaneous U.S. launch, U.S. MSRP or local warranty for the Redmi versions. Xiaomi’s global site lists a related Xiaomi Gaming Monitor G24i with 23.8-inch 1080p Fast IPS, 180Hz and 1ms GTG specifications. Similar headline specs do not prove it is the same hardware or regional SKU as either Redmi model. Check model number, ports, warranty and seller terms rather than assuming that “G24,” “G24 IPS,” “G24i” and “G24i 2026” are interchangeable. Xiaomi’s global G24i product page describes that related product.
A still newer Xiaomi Gaming Monitor G24i 2026 is listed by Xiaomi with 200Hz, HDR 400 and 400-nit peak brightness claims. It is a distinct, higher-spec related product, not the 2024 Redmi monitor. The official page does not establish a price in the information cited here. Xiaomi’s G24i 2026 page gives its stated features.

Import listings for the P24FCA-RG were still appearing in 2026, but seller prices and regional terms vary. A low Chinese-market price can lose its advantage once shipping, taxes, import fees and the cost of a difficult return are included. Confirm whether the seller provides local warranty service, who pays return shipping for a faulty panel, and whether the unit includes the right power accessories.
Compatibility and troubleshooting
Getting 180Hz from a PC
The source device, selected monitor input, cable and operating-system settings all need to support 1920 × 1080 at 180Hz. If the option is missing, check the GPU or laptop output specifications, connect through DisplayPort where practical, and select 180Hz in the operating system’s display settings or graphics control panel. Xiaomi’s related G24i page also warns that source and cable capabilities can limit the available resolution and refresh rate, and recommends the included HDMI cable for that product.
Using a laptop or console
A USB-C-only laptop may need a USB-C-to-DisplayPort or USB-C-to-HDMI adapter that supports the required resolution and refresh rate; not every adapter or laptop USB-C port carries video at that rate. For PlayStation 5 or Xbox, check the console’s supported output modes and the monitor’s behavior with that input. A 180Hz PC monitor does not mean a console can output 180Hz, and these reports do not establish a specific console refresh-mode guarantee.
If the picture or motion looks wrong
- If HDR looks washed out, try SDR first. HDR compatibility is not evidence of high-brightness, local-dimming hardware.
- If fast motion has bright trails or inverse ghosting, compare the monitor’s response-time or overdrive settings; the fastest option is not necessarily the cleanest.
- If the screen cannot be positioned comfortably, use a compatible VESA arm or riser rather than expecting height adjustment from the reported tilt-only stand.
Is a Redmi G24 still worth considering in 2026?
The original’s historical appeal was straightforward: a high refresh rate, IPS viewing angles and a relatively accessible China launch price in a resolution many budget PCs can drive quickly. It remains a plausible fit for budget 1080p esports, general desktop use or a secondary gaming screen if the delivered price is compelling and the model and warranty are clear.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIt is a weaker match if you want 1440p sharpness, dependable HDR, USB-C docking, built-in speakers or ergonomic height adjustment. Before buying an older 180Hz unit, compare its full delivered cost with current locally supported 180Hz and 200Hz alternatives. For an overseas buyer, the global G24i may be easier to evaluate for regional support, while the 2024 Redmi import makes sense only when its exact model and service terms are acceptable.
