If xtkutility.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, reinstall the complete touchscreen package rather than downloading the DLL by itself.
The file belongs beside the program that needs it, often eGalaxTouch.exe, xAuto4PtsCal.exe, or an OEM-renamed touchscreen utility. It is not a normal Windows system DLL, so copying it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 is not the correct repair.
Fix 1: Identify the touchscreen software first
Time needed: 5 minutes
Before changing Windows, find the program that is requesting the file.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for entries containing eGalaxTouch, TouchKit, HIDeGalaxTouch, Touch, or the name of your monitor or panel-PC manufacturer.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for the same names.
- If the error names a different application, note that application. Some OEM programs and unrelated applications redistribute the same DLL.
A typical installation places the file in a folder such as:

C:Program Files (x86)eGalaxTouch
An OEM may use a different directory. The relevant copy is normally the one in the same folder as the executable that fails.
Do not delete the existing folder yet. First identify the touchscreen model, monitor model, connection type, and Windows edition. Older resistive panels may use USB, RS-232, or PS/2 interfaces, while newer projected-capacitive displays may use Windows HID.
Fix 2: Reinstall the matching eGalaxTouch or OEM package
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the most likely solution for xtkutility.dll errors caused by an incomplete, damaged, or incorrect installation.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find eGalaxTouch, TouchKit, or the touchscreen manufacturer’s utility.
- Select the three-dot menu, then choose Uninstall.
- Follow the removal wizard.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Download the driver package for the exact touchscreen, monitor, panel PC, or OEM model. Prefer the hardware manufacturer’s support page or EETI’s official Windows driver catalogue.
- Extract the downloaded archive completely to a local folder.
- Right-click
setup.exeand choose Run as administrator. - Complete the installation.
- Restart Windows again.
EETI’s Windows catalogue currently lists an eGalaxTouch package identified as 5.14.0.24308; the correct package still depends on the hardware and interface. Do not assume that the newest-looking package is suitable for every panel.

A modern projected-capacitive USB touchscreen on supported Windows versions generally uses the built-in Windows HID touch-digitizer driver. Installing a legacy mouse-emulation package in that situation can create conflicts.

For this file, however, the touchscreen manufacturer’s complete installer remains the definitive repair.
Check whether the reinstall worked
After restarting:
- Open the touchscreen utility from the Start menu.
- Test touch input.
- Open Task Manager and confirm that the failing utility is no longer producing the DLL error.
- If calibration is needed, run the calibration tool supplied with the package.
If the same error returns immediately, continue with the architecture and antivirus checks below rather than copying a replacement DLL.

Fix 3: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
xtkutility.dll is associated with a 32-bit eGalaxTouch component. A 32-bit DLL is normally loaded by the 32-bit application that requires it, even when Windows itself is 64-bit.

Check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Look at System type.
- Note whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
Then check the failing executable:
- Open Task Manager.
- Select the Details tab.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns.
- Enable Platform, if available.
- Check whether the touchscreen utility is 32-bit or 64-bit.
On some Windows versions, a 32-bit process is marked with a suffix such as (32 bit) on the Processes tab.
A 64-bit version of Windows can run the required 32-bit touchscreen program through its compatibility layer. That does not mean the DLL should be moved to a Windows system directory. If the package is for a different architecture, interface, or product family, uninstall it and obtain the correct OEM package.
A “not designed to run on Windows” message commonly points to a wrong architecture, damaged extraction, a mismatched package, or an incompatible dependency.
Fix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5 minutes
Antivirus software may quarantine a driver component. Do not restore the file automatically, because a detection cannot be called a false positive until the file’s origin is verified.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving
xtkutility.dll, eGalaxTouch, TouchKit, or the touchscreen installer. - If the item came from the official OEM or EETI installer, confirm that the installer was downloaded from the genuine support source.
- Scan the downloaded archive and the computer.
- Restore the file only if you are satisfied that the package is authentic and the detection is not valid.
- Reinstall the complete package afterward if the quarantine removed part of the installation.
If Protection history identifies malware rather than a driver component, leave the item quarantined and follow Windows Security’s remediation instructions. Never solve the problem by downloading the same-named DLL from a random file site.

Fix 5: Repair a missing dependency
Time needed: 10–15 minutes
Windows may report that the “specified module could not be found” even when xtkutility.dll is present. The missing module can be a dependency required by that DLL or by the parent executable.
First reinstall the touchscreen package. If the installer names a specific dependency, use the vendor’s installer or the matching Microsoft package.
Examples include:
mfc42.dll- A Visual C++ runtime
- Another named vendor DLL
Microsoft’s current Visual C++ redistributable packages are named vc_redist.x86.exe, vc_redist.x64.exe, and vc_redist.arm64.exe. A 32-bit touchscreen application generally needs the x86 runtime, even on 64-bit Windows.

.NET and DirectX are not general fixes for xtkutility.dll. Install them only if the touchscreen package explicitly requires them.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Use this step when Windows itself appears damaged, the installer cannot run, or several unrelated applications are failing. These commands repair Windows components; they do not recreate an application-private eGalax DLL.

First install pending updates:
Windows 11
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install available updates and restart.
Windows 10
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Update & Security.
- Choose Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates and restart.
Then run the repair commands:
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and choose Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the touchscreen package again.
Success means DISM completes without an unrepaired error and SFC reports that it repaired files or found no integrity violations. If SFC reports that some files could not be repaired, repeat the process after restarting or review the command’s result before continuing.

Fix 7: Use System Restore after a recent change
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Use System Restore if the error began immediately after a driver update, cleanup utility, antivirus action, or software removal.
- Press Win+R.
- Enter:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point dated before the error began.
- Choose Next, review the affected programs, and select Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore changes system files, settings, and installed programs but does not normally remove personal files. After it completes, reinstall the correct touchscreen package if necessary.
Fix 8: Check Device Manager and remove an orphaned device
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If the touchscreen was removed but its utility remains, Windows may still launch a calibration or startup component that expects xtkutility.dll.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices, Monitors, and Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the touchscreen, an unknown device, or an entry with a warning icon.
- Right-click the relevant device and choose Properties.
- Select the Driver tab and review the provider and device details.
- If the hardware is no longer installed, close Device Manager.
- Return to Settings > Apps and uninstall the orphaned eGalaxTouch or TouchKit software.
- In Device Manager, use View > Show hidden devices and remove only clearly orphaned touchscreen entries.
If the touchscreen is still connected, do not remove its device merely because the DLL error exists. Reinstall the matching package first.

Therefore, running:
regsvr32 xtkutility.dll
is not the normal repair. It may produce an error or change nothing. Reinstall the parent application or driver package instead.
Do not copy a random DLL into System32
Downloading xtkutility.dll from an unverified DLL site is risky because the file may contain malware, belong to a different build, use the wrong architecture, or omit the dependency that caused the failure. It can also leave Windows with conflicting copies.
Keep the file in the directory installed by eGalaxTouch, TouchKit, the OEM package, or the application that needs it. Microsoft Windows normally searches the application directory early, so putting a private application DLL in System32 or SysWOW64 is not a substitute for installation.

FAQ
Is xtkutility.dll part of Windows?
No reliable evidence identifies it as a Windows component. It is primarily associated with EETI eGalaxTouch and older TouchKit touchscreen packages.
Why does the error mention eGalaxTouch.exe or xAuto4PtsCal.exe?
Those programs use the DLL’s touchscreen-control APIs. The named executable is usually the parent utility that failed to load its private component.
Where should xtkutility.dll be located?
Usually in the same application or driver directory as the executable that needs it, often an eGalaxTouch or OEM folder under Program Files (x86).
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
Known eGalaxTouch installations identify it as a 32-bit DLL. The architecture and internal version of every OEM-distributed copy cannot be assumed, so use the package intended for the failing application.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?

Check the exact hardware model, interface, Windows architecture, antivirus quarantine, and whether the error names a dependent module. If the hardware is modern projected-capacitive USB, check whether it should use Windows HID instead of a legacy eGalax mouse-emulation driver.
