Yakuza 0 Delisting and Director’s Cut: What Happened and What Buyers Need to Know

The “next month” in the original headline has passed: SEGA’s Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, then on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 8 and Steam on December 9, 2025. Contemporary reports said SEGA planned to remove the original game from PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam storefronts as Director’s Cut arrived, but that does not establish current availability on every platform or in every region.

When did Director’s Cut launch?

SEGA announced the Switch 2 edition for June 5, 2025, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions following on December 8 and a Steam version on December 9, 2025. Those dates make the original “next month” framing obsolete.

SEGA’s announcement described Director’s Cut as an expanded edition of Yakuza 0. It adds new scenes featuring major characters, English and Chinese voiceovers, and Red Light Raid, an online multiplayer mode for up to four players. SEGA noted that Red Light Raid would become playable after a post-launch update on some platforms, so its availability may differ by platform and date. SEGA’s platform-launch announcement lists the edition’s features and launch schedule.

Was the original Yakuza 0 delisted?

November 2025 coverage reported that SEGA planned to remove the original Yakuza 0 from PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam storefronts when Director’s Cut arrived. That is a reported plan at the time, not confirmation of the original game’s status today across all storefronts, regions, bundles, or subscription catalogs. Check the specific store and territory where you intend to buy or access it; GOG was discussed separately in contemporary coverage, and its status should not be inferred from the console and Steam reports.

  • Director's Cut - Deeper insight into key incidents and character backstories with never-before-seen cutscenes. English voiceover & French, Italian, German, and Spanish subtitles are also now available.
  • Online Battles - Red Light Raid lets you join forces with friends and choose from 60 playable characters to take down hordes of enemies.

PC Gamer’s November 2025 report covered the planned replacement on Steam, while IGN’s coverage discussed the console and PC transition. Neither report is a live inventory of every current store listing.

What does Director’s Cut cost?

Prices differ by region, store, and date. The US PlayStation Store listing, checked October 8, 2026, showed a standard price of $49.99 and a temporary $24.99 offer ending October 22, 2026 at 06:59 UTC. Because that offer is time-limited, check the listing for the current price before purchase. The US PlayStation Store listing is specific to that region and edition.

For launch context rather than a current universal price, PC Gamer reported a US standard price of $49.99 and a $14.99 upgrade for existing owners. Separately, SEGA Japan announced a 1,950-yen tax-included offer for eligible owners of the original PS4, Xbox One, or Steam edition. The Japanese offer excluded access through PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass and packaged copies, so it should not be treated as a global upgrade price or guarantee of eligibility elsewhere. SEGA Japan’s owner-discount notice specifies those conditions.

For Switch 2 launch context, SEGA listed the edition at 5,400 yen before tax and 5,940 yen including tax in Japan in 2025. That is a regional launch price, not a current price for other territories or platforms. SEGA’s Switch 2 announcement gives the Japanese pricing and product details.

Can you upgrade your existing copy or transfer your save?

Do not assume that owning the original automatically grants Director’s Cut or that a save will carry across editions. The US PlayStation Store says the PS4 game cannot be upgraded to the PS5 Director’s Cut and that PS4 save data does not transfer to it. SEGA Japan’s owner-discount notice also says original and Director’s Cut save data do not link. Upgrade offers, where available, depend on the platform, territory, and qualifying copy; subscription access and packaged copies were excluded from the Japanese offer.

Which versions are physical?

SEGA Japan identifies the Nintendo Switch 2 package as a game-key card. Its product information lists the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam editions as digital only. A game-key card is a physical card product, but it is not a conventional cartridge containing the full game; check the specific package and console requirements before buying. Retail stock and product formats can vary by territory.

Which edition should you choose?

  • Choose Director’s Cut if you want its added scenes, English or Chinese voice acting, or Red Light Raid, and the current price and platform conditions work for you.
  • Check the original edition’s listing first if you already own it or want the lowest available cost; reported delisting plans do not establish its present availability in your store.
  • Check platform and save compatibility before deciding based on an existing copy. In particular, PS4 saves do not carry over to the PS5 Director’s Cut.
  • Choose Switch 2 if you specifically want the package edition; SEGA lists the other named platform editions as digital only.

Red Light Raid is optional online play. The US PlayStation listing says online play requires PlayStation Plus. Its launch timing may also depend on a platform update.
