Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is a separate release, not evidence that the original has disappeared from every store. SEGA announced a Steam delisting as the new edition arrived, but that report does not establish current availability across all platforms or regions. The Director’s Cut adds new scenes, Red Light Raid online co-op, and English and Chinese voiceover; owners should check their platform’s store and their region’s upgrade terms before deciding which edition to buy.
What changed with Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut?
SEGA released Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. It then launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 8, 2025, followed by Steam on December 9, 2025. SEGA’s announcements list those four platform families: Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

New scenes, multiplayer, and voiceover
SEGA describes the edition as adding new scenes featuring important characters, English and Chinese voiceover, and Red Light Raid, an online mode for teams of up to four players. SEGA noted that Red Light Raid would arrive via a post-launch update on some platforms, so its availability may not have been identical on every platform at launch.

Was the original Yakuza 0 delisted?
A November 27, 2025 report by PC Gamer said the original was due to be delisted from Steam as the Director’s Cut arrived: PC Gamer’s report on the Steam delisting. That is a report about Steam, not proof that the original was removed from every platform or every regional storefront. The official SEGA material cited here does not establish current listing status for each region’s PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Nintendo store. Check the relevant store directly if you are deciding whether you can still buy the original.

Can existing owners get the Director’s Cut, and do saves transfer?
In Japan, SEGA announced that existing owners of the original on PS4, Xbox One, or Steam could buy the Director’s Cut for ¥1,950 including tax. The offer excluded subscription access and packaged copies. SEGA also said saves do not link between the original and Director’s Cut. These terms are specific to the Japanese announcement and should not be assumed to apply in other markets; check your local store for current upgrade eligibility and pricing. Which edition should you choose?
- Choose the Director’s Cut if you want its added scenes, voice tracks, or online mode, and it is available on your platform at a price you accept.
- Keep or buy the original if that is the available edition on your platform, or if preserving access to your existing save matters. SEGA Japan says saves do not link between editions.
- Compare before purchasing by checking your platform, the local store listing, upgrade eligibility, and the current regional price. A Steam delisting report does not settle availability elsewhere.
Switch 2 controller support
SEGA Support lists both Joy-Con 2 Grip and Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller as supported for the Switch 2 edition. The Pro Controller is supported, not required. SEGA Support’s controller information.
