She is recruited as a permanent party member, fights with magic that a third-party guide says works well against groups, and can dispel illusions in the Living Lands. The official preview and the companion guide describe her recruitment differently, so both accounts are set out separately below.
How to recruit Yatzli
Two recruitment accounts are reported, and the sources do not reconcile them into one verified step-by-step order. Treat them as separate milestones and match them to the quest names in your own journal.

The Godless Vase setup in the preview
In a gameplay preview published on 10 June 2024, Xbox Wire says the player meets Yatzli before setting out on a quest for the Animancers. She asks the player to collect a Godless Vase, which she describes as an artifact of the people she studies. The article calls recovering the vase a key part of the journey to unlocking her as a permanent companion.
Emerald Stair and Face Your Fears
Gamer Guides, published 12 February 2025 and last updated 11 March 2025, says you encounter Yatzli fighting mushroom men when you enter Emerald Stair. You recruit her during the main quest Face Your Fears in Shatterscarp. The guide presents these as two points on the route, not as a cause-and-effect sequence, and it does not say whether the Godless Vase is required for the Shatterscarp recruitment.

Personality and dialogue
Xbox Wire describes the demonstrated Yatzli as “a little lightning ball with a lot of personality,” attributing the phrase to Avowed game director Carrie Patel. The article also says her dialogue quickly takes a flirtatious tone. Both observations come from the previewed scene, so they describe the tone of that demonstration rather than every line she speaks in the full game.
Combat abilities
Gamer Guides lists the abilities below and says her magic is effective against groups. The official preview does not enumerate Yatzli’s abilities, so the table reflects the guide’s descriptions.

Command is the ability that matters outside combat. According to the guide, dispelling illusions in the Living Lands can expose hidden chests and collectibles, which makes her useful for reaching areas you would otherwise miss. The guide does not list specific illusions or locations, so check the area in game if you are looking for a particular cache.

According to Gamer Guides, she does not. That is a third-party statement, not an official one.
