Yes. Since Edge of Eternities, a legendary Spacecraft card with printed power and toughness can be your Commander. The rule also covers qualifying legendary Vehicles, and the usual color-identity rules still apply. “Spaceship” is the flavor description; the official card subtype is Spacecraft.
Which ships can be your Commander?
Not every Spacecraft or Vehicle qualifies. The card must be legendary and have power and toughness printed on it. Wizards of the Coast summarizes the change this way: “Starting with Edge of Eternities, legendary Vehicles and legendary Spacecraft with a printed power and toughness are eligible to be your deck’s commander.”
Your deck must still follow the commander’s color identity. The eligibility change does not remove that restriction or make every ship card a legal commander.
How Spacecraft and Station work
Spacecraft are artifact cards, and a Spacecraft generally begins the game as a noncreature artifact. Its Station ability lets you tap another untapped creature you control at sorcery timing to put charge counters on it equal to that creature’s power.

- Includes a mix of AT LEAST 25 Rares/Uncommons which is half of the cards.
- Absolutely NO... Basic lands, Foreign, or silver/gold bordered cards.
- Some may contain Foils or Mythics but not all.
- Sets can range from Beta to the current Magic the Gathering set.
- Mint/Excellent condition only.
Build counters to reach thresholds
Each Station card has thresholds marked by charge-counter totals. Once it has at least the number shown for a threshold, it gains the ability listed in that band. If the band also shows power and toughness, the Spacecraft becomes an artifact creature with those stats. A threshold without power and toughness can grant an ability while leaving the card a noncreature artifact.
That means a ship-led Commander deck has two linked decisions: which creatures to tap to advance Station, and how to protect or use the ship as its thresholds unlock. The Station ability is usable only as a sorcery, and you cannot tap the Spacecraft itself to pay its own Station cost.

What the two Commander decks do
Edge of Eternities includes two Commander decks, each with a legendary Spacecraft that can be a Commander. Wizards describes their broad strategies as follows:
| Deck | Publisher-described focus | Strategic direction |
|---|---|---|
| World Shaper | Sacrificing lands and growing back stronger | Land sacrifice and land recursion |
| Counter Intelligence | Powering up artifacts and proliferating counters | Artifact synergies and counter growth |
Neither is universally the better choice. Consider the commander’s color identity, how its Station thresholds pay off, and whether you prefer land-focused play or artifact and counter synergies.

Check format legality separately
At release, Wizards’ release notes said cards coded EOE were permitted in Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Commander, and other formats, while new EOC-coded Commander cards were permitted in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. That is a release-era statement, not a current ban-list check. For present-day format legality, consult Wizards’ live format page before building a deck.
