Xbox’s Deadpool “Cheeky Controller” had a sculpted rear modeled after the character’s butt—but it was a promotional sweepstakes item, not a new controller you could routinely buy. The giveaway ended on August 11, 2024.
Short answer: Xbox’s “Cheeky Controller” really did feature a sculpted rear modeled after Deadpool’s butt. But it was a custom promotional controller tied to Deadpool & Wolverine, not a standard product sold in stores. The Xbox giveaway ended at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time on August 11, 2024, so it is no longer open.

What was the Deadpool “Cheeky Controller”?
Announced by Xbox on July 17, 2024, the Cheeky Controller was a custom Xbox Wireless Controller created for the marketing campaign around Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine. It used the familiar Xbox controller layout, but its rear shell was sculpted to resemble Deadpool’s backside. The rest of the design matched the character’s red-and-black tactical costume.

It was a sweepstakes prize, not a retail controller
The most important detail is that Xbox did not launch the Cheeky Controller as an ordinary retail model. The official Xbox announcement presented it as a prize fans could win, and the official sweepstakes rules described a larger custom hardware package.
The grand-prize package included:
- One custom Xbox Series X console inspired by Deadpool & Wolverine;
- Two custom Xbox Wireless Controllers inspired by the characters; and
- A custom Xbox Series X console stand.
The official rules gave the package an approximate retail value of $859.98. That figure applied to the complete prize package, not to a normal store price for an individual Cheeky Controller.
How the Xbox giveaway worked
The Xbox Cheeky Controller Sweepstakes ran from 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time on July 17, 2024, through 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time on August 11, 2024. Entry required eligible participants to follow Xbox on X and repost the designated promotional post using the campaign hashtag #xboxcheekycontrollersweepstakes.

Can you buy the Deadpool butt controller?
Not as a normal new retail Xbox accessory, based on the official campaign information. Xbox’s materials support sweepstakes availability for the custom controller, not a standard retail release. A resale listing might appear independently, but its authenticity, price, condition, and provenance would need to be verified before treating it as the same official promotional hardware.
Be cautious with listings that describe an ordinary red Xbox controller, a Deadpool-themed skin, or a controller stand as the “official Deadpool butt controller.” Those are not automatically the custom Cheeky Controller shown in Xbox’s campaign.
Don’t confuse it with the Elite Controller promotion
Xbox also announced a separate purchase-linked promotion connected to the same broader campaign. On July 22, 2024, the first 1,000 fans to purchase an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core from the Microsoft Store were scheduled to receive an exclusive Deadpool Cable Guys controller holder.
That offer was limited to North America and Canada and was available only while supplies lasted. More importantly, buying the Elite Series 2 – Core was not a way to buy or unlock the sculpted Cheeky Controller. It was the qualifying purchase for a related holder promotion, and that offer was also tied to the 2024 campaign.
There was also a separate Microsoft Instagram promotion
The official source set includes another Microsoft promotion with different rules and entry mechanics. That campaign referred to Instagram, a Microsoft account, and the hashtag #MicrosoftCheekySweepstakes.
It should not be merged with the Xbox promotion, which used Xbox on X and #xboxcheekycontrollersweepstakes. Similar naming and the same general Deadpool theme do not make the two campaigns interchangeable.

What remains available to fans?
The original Cheeky Controller giveaway is over, and the custom controller was not established as a regular retail model. Fans looking for related gear can instead check licensed Deadpool display figures and controller holders, including the Cable Guys accessory described above. These products give a setup some of the same character-specific appeal without claiming to reproduce the rare promotional controller.
For any marketplace listing, verify that the seller clearly identifies whether the item is:
- the original custom Xbox promotional controller;
- a standard Xbox controller with a themed skin or shell;
- a Cable Guys holder or display figure; or
- another Deadpool collectible that does not hold a controller.
That distinction is especially important because the official campaign materials describe a custom prize item, while the commercially available Cable Guys product is designed to hold and display a controller.
The bottom line
Xbox did make a controller with a sculpted Deadpool backside, but “new Xbox controller” was a slightly misleading description for consumers looking to place an order. The Cheeky Controller was a custom sweepstakes prize associated with Deadpool & Wolverine, the giveaway closed on August 11, 2024, and the official materials do not document a normal retail release. The closest straightforward purchase is a licensed Deadpool controller-display holder—not the butt-shaped controller itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you still buy the Deadpool butt controller?
No. The official Xbox campaign presented the Cheeky Controller as a sweepstakes prize, and the giveaway ended at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time on August 11, 2024. No standard retail release is established by the campaign materials.
What did the Deadpool Xbox sweepstakes prize include?
The grand prize included a custom Xbox Series X console, two custom Xbox Wireless Controllers, and a custom Xbox Series X stand. The official rules listed the package’s approximate retail value as $859.98.
Is the Deadpool Cable Guys holder the same as the Cheeky Controller?
No. The Deadpool Cable Guys product is a licensed holder or display figure for devices including Xbox controllers. It is not the custom Cheeky Controller and does not reproduce its sculpted rear design.
Was there more than one Deadpool-themed Microsoft giveaway?
The Xbox promotion used Xbox on X and the hashtag #xboxcheekycontrollersweepstakes. A separate Microsoft promotion used Instagram and #MicrosoftCheekySweepstakes, so their rules and entry instructions should not be combined.
The Bottom Line
Xbox’s Deadpool “Cheeky Controller” was a custom sweepstakes prize, not a regular retail model. The giveaway ended on August 11, 2024; a licensed Deadpool Cable Guys holder is the closest ordinary retail alternative, but it is a display accessory rather than a replica controller.
