If YouTube videos keep buffering on Airtel broadband, first lower the video’s playback quality, then compare the same video across another device and another internet connection. Those checks help narrow the problem to a video or device, home Wi-Fi, or the Airtel connection—but buffering alone does not prove there is an Airtel outage or a playlist-specific fault.
Start by finding out where the buffering happens
Try a different video in the same playlist, then play a video outside that playlist. Note whether buffering occurs at startup, repeatedly during playback, or only when the next playlist video begins. If possible, play the same title on another device.
A playlist is a useful way to reproduce the symptom, but these comparisons do not establish that playlists have a distinct technical fault. They show whether the problem appears limited to one video, device, or app—or happens more broadly.
Lower YouTube playback quality

Open the YouTube player’s Settings > Quality.

Select a lower available resolution instead of Auto, then retest the video.

Lower resolution reduces the amount of data needed for playback, at the cost of picture detail. If the video becomes stable, the connection’s available throughput or stability may not be keeping up with the quality selected. YouTube and Airtel both recommend trying lower quality when video buffers.
YouTube’s TV troubleshooting guidance recommends a minimum connection speed of 7 Mbps for HD streaming. That is a recommendation in its TV guidance, not a guaranteed minimum for every video, device, resolution, or household. YouTube’s streaming and video troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking playback on another connection.
Compare devices and internet connections
Test the same video on another device
If the same video plays normally on another device connected to Airtel, focus first on the original device or its YouTube app or browser. If it buffers on multiple devices, check Wi-Fi conditions and the home connection next.
Test another internet connection
Try the same video over mobile data or another available connection; mobile data charges may apply. If it works there but buffers on Airtel, repeat the Airtel test on another device if possible. This helps narrow the fault domain, but does not by itself identify congestion, routing, an outage, or a router fault.

Measure where you watch
A speed test is only one measurement. Run it near the TV or device that buffers, and temporarily pause other heavy network use. A result measured beside the router may not reflect the connection where you actually watch.
For a useful record—especially before contacting support—note the video or playlist, device and app, Airtel versus another connection, selected quality, usual location versus near the router (or wired versus wireless), and whether other people or devices are using the connection.
Check Wi-Fi before changing equipment

Move the device closer to the router and test in an open position, away from obvious obstacles.

Temporarily pause downloads, large uploads, and other heavy network use.

If your router offers both bands, compare them where practical. Airtel describes 2.4 GHz as slower with longer coverage, and 5 GHz as faster over a shorter range. Check that the device supports the band you test.

If both the viewing device and router have Ethernet ports, try a wired connection to help distinguish Wi-Fi trouble from a broader connection problem. Airtel identifies Cat5/Cat6 RJ45 cable for a wired computer-to-router connection. Try a suitable cable you already have before buying one; a cable is a diagnostic option, not a guaranteed fix.

Check the Airtel ONT/router and connection

Check that the ONT/router has power and that the relevant internet and Wi-Fi indicators are on. Confirm the power and network cables are seated correctly.

If you have a fiber connection, handle the fiber patch cable carefully; Airtel warns against sharply bending it.

Restart the ONT/router: disconnect its power, wait 15–20 seconds, reconnect it, and allow the connection to re-establish before restarting the viewing device.

If available, open the Airtel Thanks app and try broadband > My Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi > Optimize Wi-Fi. App labels can change.

If the connection remains unstable, indicators show a fault, or YouTube and other services fail across multiple devices, contact Airtel support. Do not replace provider equipment or fiber cabling based only on buffering.

Close and reopen YouTube, then restart the device.

Update the YouTube app or browser. On a TV, check for system updates too.

Clear the YouTube app cache if the device supports that option.

Try another supported device or playback method. YouTube’s TV guidance suggests trying another method, such as casting from another device.

If streaming problems affect multiple services on the device, check the device manufacturer’s support guidance. You can also send YouTube playback feedback through profile > Help and Feedback > Send Feedback.
When to suspect a wider service problem
If the same problem occurs across several devices and services on Airtel, but not on another connection, Airtel or the home connection deserves investigation. If only YouTube is affected, the comparisons still do not establish why; record the tests and contact the relevant support team if the problem persists. General troubleshooting guidance cannot confirm a current outage in your location or prove that Airtel is selectively impairing YouTube. Check Airtel support and test while the fault is happening.
