Zacian Counters, Weaknesses, and Best Movesets in Pokémon GO

Check Zacian’s form before choosing counters: Hero of Many Battles is a pure Fairy type, weak to Poison and Steel; Crowned Sword is Fairy/Steel, weak to Fire and Ground. Their raid counters and recommended movesets are different, so there is no single best Zacian moveset for every use.

Which Zacian form are you facing?

For a quick raid choice, use Fire or Ground against Crowned Sword and Poison or Steel against Hero. The recommendations below are strong examples, not a guaranteed best team for every roster or battle setup.

Best counters for Crowned Sword Zacian

Crowned Sword’s Fairy/Steel typing makes Fire and Ground attacks super effective. Pokémon GO Hub’s July 8, 2026 raid guide lists these among its leading counter examples:

1. Primal Groudon: Mud Shot / Precipice Blades
2. Mega Y Charizard: Fire Spin / Blast Burn
3. Shadow Heatran: Fire Spin / Magma Storm
4. Mega Blaziken: Fire Spin / Blast Burn
5. Mega Garchomp: Mud Shot / Earth Power

These are guide-ranked choices, not a prescription to use five particular Pokémon. Build with the Fire- and Ground-type attackers available to you, and consider their levels and survivability as well as their moves. The guide says a trio is theoretically possible in ideal weather with max-level counters, but recommends four to six high-level trainers for a more reliable clear. Those estimates depend on the guide’s assumptions and should not be treated as a guarantee.

Best counters for Hero of Many Battles Zacian

Hero is pure Fairy, so use Poison- or Steel-type attacks. The exact team depends partly on which charge move the raid boss uses: Pokebattler lists Iron Head, Play Rough, Close Combat, and Wild Charge, and notes that this varied move pool can create counter-specific surprises. Choose counters that can exploit the weakness without folding to the boss’s charged attack.

Do not default to Dragon attackers just because Zacian is Fairy. Hero doubly resists Dragon attacks, making Dragon-type damage a poor choice compared with the weaknesses above.

Pokebattler’s September 7, 2026 raid research estimates a minimum of two trainers only under specific conditions: level 40 trainers, best-friend bonus, and optimal weather. It recommends four or more trainers using level 20 counters. These are conditional estimates, not a universal group-size guarantee.

Best Zacian moveset by form and role

Hero of Many Battles

For a Fairy attacker role, Pokémon GO Hub recommends Snarl / Play Rough. That recommendation does not make Hero a top raid attacker: the same database does not rank it as a raid attacker. Treat the set as a role-specific moveset recommendation, not proof that it is the strongest raid option.

Crowned Sword

• Steel attacker: Metal Claw / Behemoth Blade
• Fairy attacker: Metal Claw / Play Rough

Choose the set for the damage type you need. Pokémon GO Hub’s database reports Behemoth Blade as a 200-damage charged attack in raids and gyms. Its reported level 50 maximum CP is 5,629; Hero’s is 4,329. These are database game values, not estimates of raid performance under a particular team or battle condition.

How to change Zacian into Crowned Sword

1. Make sure your Zacian knows Iron Head; Pokémon GO Hub says the form change requires it.
2. Spend 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy and 30 Zacian Candy to change it into Crowned Sword. Iron Head becomes Behemoth Blade after the transformation.
3. Check current in-game announcements for event availability before planning around Crowned Sword Energy. The cited guides do not establish when that energy is available.

Defeating a Crowned Sword Zacian raid does not mean the encounter is already in Crowned Sword form: the raid guide says the caught Zacian is Hero of Many Battles form before a form change.

For Crowned Sword raid catches, Pokémon GO Hub’s July 8, 2026 guide lists 2,100–2,188 CP at level 20 and 2,625–2,735 CP at level 25 with Cloudy weather boost. These are guide values and may change after game updates.

Counter rankings and raid difficulty vary with factors including weather, friendship, counter level, party size, and the boss’s charge move. Use the form-specific weaknesses to select an attack plan, then adapt the team to your roster and raid conditions.
