To complete the Cotton-Candy Hunt side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, unlock it in Scrubton, reveal the Hidden Ruins entrance in southern Faron, solve the Spark-routing puzzles, and defeat Smog. Return to the Deku Scrub who gave you the quest to receive the Curious Charm.
How to unlock Cotton-Candy Hunt
Complete both A Rift in the Faron Wetlands main quest and the Let’s Play a Game side quest first. Then speak with the Deku Scrub in Scrubton to start Cotton-Candy Hunt. The Scrub asks you to investigate what it thinks is cotton candy.

How to find the Hidden Ruins entrance
The Hidden Ruins are in southern Faron. One specific route, described by Nintendo Life’s walkthrough, is to warp to Blossu’s House in the southeast, travel west, then head north from the torches toward a pond.
- Find and defeat the Drippitune causing the rain.
- Use fire-based Echoes to light the nearby torches.
- When the rain stops and the torches are lit, the staircase to the ruins is revealed.
Other walkthroughs place the entrance more generally south or southeast of Scrubton and differ on the number of torches. Follow the torches you find in your game rather than relying on an exact count.

How to solve the Hidden Ruins Spark puzzles
The dungeon’s main puzzle is routing Sparks into electrical blocks to open doors. Use Echoes to redirect a Spark along a workable path; where available, a Spark Echo can provide a shortcut. The precise room order and solutions vary between walkthroughs, so focus on the obstacles in the room you are in.
- Web-covered room: Burn the webs to uncover the puzzle elements.
- Boulders in the path: Use Bind to move them and clear a Spark’s route.
- Water or other obstacles: Guide the Spark around them with Echoes, or use a Spark Echo if it offers a simpler route in that room.
How to defeat Smog
The apparent cotton candy is Smog, the dungeon boss. During the fight, Smog separates into clouds. Use object Echoes to nudge the separated pieces back together; attack once the boss reforms. The walkthroughs report that defeating Smog awards a Piece of Heart.

After the fight, return to Scrubton and speak with the Deku Scrub who gave you Cotton-Candy Hunt. The quest reward is the Curious Charm, which upgrades the Ancient Charm.
