Reports say a physical The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time edition for Nintendo Switch 2 is leading some Amazon preorder charts and reportedly outperformed Grand Theft Auto VI on Amazon Brazil’s first preorder day. But the available evidence does not establish an Amazon-wide sales record or a verified global comparison: Amazon has not publicly confirmed the direct comparison, and no sales counts or comparable dataset were reported.
What the Amazon preorder reports say
Journal du Geek reports that Ocarina of Time was leading Amazon preorder charts in the United States, Japan and France, attributing that claim to IGN. The report does not provide Amazon sales figures, and the underlying IGN item or Amazon data was not available in the material reviewed. Chart leadership in those markets is not, by itself, proof of a record or of more copies sold than another game.

Separately, Conecta Geek reports that the game exceeded GTA 6 on the first day of each title’s preorder at Amazon Brazil. Rage Crítico also reports the comparison and notes that Amazon had not publicly confirmed it. Neither report supplies unit counts or Amazon’s methodology. The claim should therefore be read as a reported first-day comparison in Brazil, not as an established Amazon-wide result.

Why the reports do not establish an Amazon record
The claims concern different things: chart positions across three national Amazon marketplaces, a reported first-day comparison on Amazon Brazil, and a separate Spanish shop’s physical reservations. None provides a verified Amazon sales total or a like-for-like global comparison. The reports reviewed do not include a primary Amazon statement or an underlying comparative preorder dataset.

- Become the Hero of Time and save Hyrule from darkness
- Venture into dungeons, solve puzzles, and travel across time in two different eras to restore balance to the land
- A classic tale, reborn for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, featuring voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, visuals built from the ground up for Nintendo Switch 2, and more
- Play Link’s in-game ocarina by humming or singing into the Nintendo Switch 2 system microphone
- Chart placement: reported leadership in the US, Japan and France does not show the number of preorders or establish a historical record.
- Brazil comparison: the reported result concerns the first day of preorders in one marketplace; figures and methodology are not stated.
- Record claim: without Amazon confirmation or comparable historical data, “Amazon record” is not substantiated.
The separate 120-to-1 claim is about a Spanish retailer
GameTimers reports that Spanish retailer Wakkap recorded 120 physical Ocarina of Time reservations for every physical GTA VI reservation on the first day. That is a retailer-specific ratio attributed to Wakkap, not Amazon data or a market-wide statistic. The report does not provide an independently audited count, so the figure should not be used to quantify overall demand.
What product is being preordered
The reports concern a physical edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2. TechRadar reports that the initial physical run will feature textured foil packaging and lists November 5, 2026, as the release date. These details are secondary reporting; verify them with Nintendo or the retailer listing before relying on them, since the material reviewed did not include a Nintendo announcement.
A Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and Pro Controller have also been reported as separate hardware offerings. Tom’s Hardware says the game is not included with the console. Those hardware items are distinct from the game preorder and do not provide evidence for its preorder performance.

The defensible takeaway is narrower than “set an Amazon record, dominating GTA 6”: reports describe strong preorder chart placement in several markets and a reported first-day win over GTA 6 on Amazon Brazil, but neither establishes a record or a verified global sales comparison. The 120-to-1 figure refers to physical reservations at Wakkap in Spain, not Amazon.
