Pre-download and launch are different events
HoYoverse opened the pre-download on July 2, 2024, in a follow-up notice that repeated the Version 1.0 date and time. Pre-download let players fetch the client before the game went live; it did not start gameplay. The official release was July 4.

The release announcement described the launch as covering all of these platforms at once. The official material establishes the platforms and the pre-download; it does not describe a physical or boxed edition, so do not assume one existed.

PlayStation launch attribution
PlayStation Blog’s launch coverage, published June 28, 2024, names Zhenyu Li, Producer of Zenless Zone Zero at HoYoverse. In that article he said: “I’m thrilled that Zenless Zone Zero is officially launching July 4 on PS5!” The quote refers to the PS5 launch specifically and was published before the release date.
About the countdown timer
A countdown to July 4, 2024, will always read zero, because the event is in the past as of October 8, 2026. Any timer on this page should be presented as historical or removed. Rebuilding it around the original launch would mislead readers into thinking the game has not yet released.

A new countdown is only appropriate if HoYoverse publishes an official, dated future event, such as a later version or an anniversary. Before setting a timer, confirm the date and time in HoYoverse’s own announcement and convert it to UTC, since the company’s launch notices have used UTC+8 as the reference zone. The launch-date sources do not establish any specific future event, so none is listed here.
