Zenless Zone Zero launched on July 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM UTC+8. HoYoverse opened the original pre-download on July 2, 2024, so that launch preload is no longer available. To install the game now or download an update, use the launcher, game, or console controls for your platform and check HoYoverse’s notice for the current version.
When did Zenless Zone Zero release?
HoYoverse announced that Zenless Zone Zero would release on all platforms on July 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM (UTC+8). That is a historical launch time, not an upcoming release date. HoYoverse’s launch announcement also set July 2 as the start of pre-download.
When did the original preload start?
The launch pre-download began on July 2, 2024, two days before release. HoYoverse’s July 2 download guide confirmed that it was available and outlined the platform-specific launch process.
How to install Zenless Zone Zero or preload a current update
The July 2024 launch instructions are no longer a live preload window. For a current version update, follow the instructions for your platform in HoYoverse’s notice for that update. As an example—not a permanent set of steps—HoYoverse’s Version 3.1 notice, published July 27, 2026, described these methods:

- PC: In HoYoPlay, select the Pre-Download icon beside Start Game.
- Android and iOS: Open the game and select the in-game Pre-Download Resources icon.
- PS5 and PS5 Pro: The notice said pre-download may begin automatically after launching the game, provided enough storage is reserved.
- Xbox Series X|S: The notice said pre-download may begin automatically after launching the game if enough storage is reserved. It also gave the console path My games & apps > Manage > Updates.
For the original 2024 launch preload, HoYoverse directed PC players to install HoYoPlay, open the Zenless Zone Zero game card, and start the download from its information page. Mobile players were directed to their platform’s app store; the PS5 guide described finding the game in PlayStation Store for players who had pre-ordered.

What to know before downloading an update
- Preload behavior depends on platform: the Version 3.1 notice said PC players could keep playing while pre-downloading, while mobile players could not play during the process.
- Leave enough storage available: the notice warned that the required space is affected by installed voice packs. It does not establish one universal install or download size, so check the current version’s notice and your platform’s available storage.
- Use Wi-Fi for large downloads: HoYoverse recommended Wi-Fi in that update notice. Its storage and download guidance applies to the specified update, rather than serving as a timeless requirement.
