What zerox_as.dll is
zerox_as.dll is a Windows dynamic-link library used by a third-party application. Its reported internal description is ZeroX_SC DLL, and it is part of the ZeroX_SC Dynamic Link Library program.
The file is commonly associated with legacy FL Studio components. In particular, it may be involved when an older installation uses a tool such as BeatSlicer or another bundled audio feature. The related zerox_sc.dll name can also appear in old FL Studio file inventories, but zerox_sc.dll and zerox_as.dll are not automatically interchangeable.

Fix 1: Repair FL Studio with the official installer
This is the most likely solution because it restores the missing DLL together with the files and dependencies that belong beside it.
Before you begin
- Close FL Studio and any audio host that may be using it.
- Copy your project files to another folder or external drive.
- Back up custom presets, samples and templates if they are stored inside the FL Studio installation directory.
- Note the FL Studio version shown in the error, shortcut properties or installed-app list.
- If you use multiple FL Studio versions, identify which shortcut or executable produces the error.
Run the installer over the existing installation
- Open a browser and go to the official Image-Line FL Studio download page.
- Download the installer that matches your account and the affected FL Studio generation.
- Open File Explorer and select Downloads.
- Double-click the FL Studio installer.
- If Windows displays User Account Control, select Yes.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Keep the normal program components selected. Do not replace the installation with a random standalone DLL.
- If the installer offers the existing FL Studio location, confirm that it is the same folder used by the failing shortcut.
- Allow the installation to finish.
- Restart Windows.

Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine and protection history
Security software can remove or quarantine an application DLL after an update, especially when the file belongs to an old program. Do not disable protection permanently or restore a file simply because its name matches the error.
Windows Security steps
- Select Start.
- Type Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections for
zerox_as.dll, FL Studio or the folder containing the installation. - Open a matching entry and read the detection details.
- If the file came from an official, trusted FL Studio installer and the detection is verified as a false positive, use the available restore or allow option.

Fix 3: Confirm the application and architecture
A 64-bit Windows installation can run 32-bit software, and many older audio components were built for 32-bit hosts. The correct DLL must match the program that loads it, not merely the operating system.
- Right-click the FL Studio shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab and note the Target path.
- In File Explorer, browse to that folder.
- Right-click the FL Studio executable and select Properties.
- Open the Details tab and record the product information shown there.
- Check whether the shortcut points to an older or separate FL Studio installation.
- Repair that exact installation using its matching official installer.
Do not install both x86 and x64 copies of zerox_as.dll into system folders. Do not rename zerox_sc.dll to zerox_as.dll, and do not copy a DLL from another FL Studio version unless the official installer specifically supplies it for that build.
If only one legacy feature fails while FL Studio itself opens, check whether that feature was included in the installed version. Also check whether the installation folder was manually moved, renamed or partially deleted.

- Right-click Start and select Installed apps.
- Search for FL Studio.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the affected version.
- Select Uninstall.
- Follow the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign in to your Image-Line account.
- Download the matching official installer or appropriate previous release.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation using the intended program folder.
- Restart Windows again.
- Test the feature that previously failed.
Do not delete personal project folders unless you have confirmed that they are backed up. If several FL Studio versions are installed, remove only the version connected to the error unless you deliberately intend to rebuild all installations.

Fix 5: Check Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components. They do not normally recreate a third-party FL Studio DLL, so use them when Windows itself is showing corruption, installers fail unexpectedly or multiple unrelated applications have missing-system-file errors.
Run DISM first
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Press Enter.
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Restart Windows if requested.
Run SFC afterward
- Open Terminal (Admin) again.
- Enter:
sfc /scannow
- Press Enter.
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the official FL Studio installer again and retest.
A message stating that Windows Resource Protection found no integrity violations means SFC did not find damaged protected Windows files. It does not prove that zerox_as.dll exists or that the FL Studio installation is intact.
Running these commands repeatedly will not replace an application DLL that was deleted from the FL Studio folder.

Fix 6: Update or reinstall related drivers only when symptoms point there
A graphics, audio or chipset driver is not the normal source of zerox_as.dll. Consider a driver repair only if FL Studio also crashes with audio-device errors, Windows reports device failures or several applications have hardware-related problems.
Check Device Manager
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Look for a warning icon.
- Right-click the affected audio device.
- Select Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- Test FL Studio again.
For a clean reinstall:
- In Device Manager, right-click the affected audio device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Confirm only if you have the correct replacement driver available.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the driver from the hardware manufacturer.
- Restart again and test the application.
Do not remove a working audio interface driver merely because zerox_as.dll is missing. If you run:
regsvr32 zerox_as.dll
you may receive an error stating that the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. That does not mean the DLL needs a different download. It usually means the file is not a self-registering component.
If official documentation for a specific component explicitly requires registration, use the command from the application’s own installation directory and match the command architecture to the DLL. Otherwise, repair the parent application instead.
Fix 8: Check storage and recent system changes
An interrupted update, full drive or failing storage device can leave an installation incomplete.

- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Storage.
- Confirm that the system drive has free space.
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install pending updates and restart.
- Run the FL Studio installer again.

Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX and .NET repair different software layers. There is no evidence that zerox_as.dll is itself a Microsoft runtime component.
A missing runtime can cause a program to fail with a dependency-related message, but installing every runtime package at random is not a reliable repair. First restore the FL Studio installation. If the repaired application then reports a specific missing runtime, install that runtime from Microsoft’s official source and match its architecture to the affected program.
Windows Features are similar. Enabling optional features such as legacy .NET support is appropriate only when an application specifically requires them. It does not normally recreate an application-bundled audio DLL.
Why System32 and SysWOW64 are usually wrong
C:WindowsSystem32 stores system components and, on 64-bit Windows, commonly contains 64-bit system binaries. C:WindowsSysWOW64 is used by Windows for 32-bit compatibility components. The names can be confusing, but neither folder is a general-purpose location for third-party application DLLs.
An application normally searches its own installation directory first. Copying zerox_as.dll into a system folder can:
- Leave the actual FL Studio installation incomplete.
- Cause the program to load the wrong build.
- Create conflicts between different applications.
- Hide a missing dependency rather than repair it.
- Expose Windows to an untrusted binary.

If reinstalling FL Studio still does not work
Work through these checks:
- Read the complete error text and note the executable named in it.
- Confirm the shortcut points to the installation you repaired.
- Search the FL Studio installation folder for
zerox_as.dll. - Check antivirus quarantine again after reinstalling.
- Confirm that the affected feature exists in that historical FL Studio version.
- Test with a new Windows user account to rule out profile-specific permissions or settings.
- Check the drive for errors and confirm adequate free space.
- Run DISM followed by SFC if Windows shows broader corruption.
- Remove unofficial or modified FL Studio packages.
- Contact Image-Line support with the FL Studio version, Windows version, installation path and complete error text.
If the file exists but Windows reports “the specified module could not be found,” the next missing item may be a dependency. Avoid replacing individual DLLs blindly. The application installer is more likely to restore the correct group of related files.
