It is a better fit for someone who values manual match control and a competitive skill ceiling than for a traveler looking for dependable offline games. The current official mobile information does not establish a full, reliable offline mode, so do not install it expecting to play an entire career without connectivity.
Konami lists Android 7.0 or later, at least 2GB of RAM and a 64-bit Arm-based quad-core processor running at 1.5GHz or above. On Apple devices, it lists iOS/iPadOS 15 or later and iPhone 6s or later among supported devices. Compatibility does not guarantee smooth performance on older hardware.
Best for: Online players who want realistic match control.
Watch out for: Internet dependence and in-game purchases.
2. EA SPORTS FC Mobile — best for licensed online competition
Connectivity: Online-first. EA SPORTS FC Mobile is the strongest choice for players who care about licensed clubs, national teams and a large online ecosystem. EA highlights the World’s Game Tournament, Quick Match, more than 50 national teams, PlayStyles and Ultimate Team-style squad building.
The US App Store listing describes real-time PvP including 1v1 Head-to-Head, VS Attack, Club Challenge, Division Rivals, leagues and multiplayer tournaments. EA’s Quick Match feature also lets players create a match room and invite another player with a code.
This is not a dependable offline recommendation. The official sources establish its online modes but do not establish a full offline match or career mode. The Google Play listing identifies advertising, while the store listings also show in-app purchases.
Best for: Licensed content, live events and real-time PvP.
Watch out for: Online dependence, ads and free-to-play progression. The current name is EA SPORTS FC Mobile, not FIFA Mobile.

3. Dream League Soccer 2026 — best for building your own club
Connectivity: Internet required on the current US iOS listing. Dream League Soccer 2026 is built around taking a club through divisions and cup competitions, developing players, upgrading facilities and customizing the team. Its iPhone listing describes more than 4,000 FIFPRO-licensed players, eight divisions, more than 10 cup competitions, Dream League Live, clans, seasons, events and Dream Draft.

However, older articles often call the series an offline game, while the current App Store listing explicitly says an internet connection is required. It should therefore be treated as online-dependent unless the exact Android build confirms a limited offline mode.

4. Football Manager 26 Mobile — best verified offline football game
Connectivity: Offline play explicitly supported. Football Manager 26 Mobile is the best choice here for players who want a serious single-player football simulation rather than direct control of matches. You select a club, manage tactics and recruitment, develop the squad and simulate the footballing side of a long career.
Netflix classifies it as a single-player sports, simulation and strategy game and explicitly lists offline play as supported. It is not a traditional free download: a Netflix membership is required. SEGA lists iOS 17 or later and Android 9 or later as minimum operating-system requirements.
There is an important save limitation. Netflix says cloud saves are not supported, so uninstalling the game or changing devices may cause you to lose progress. Offline access also does not mean online features such as account synchronization or other connected services are available without a connection.

Connectivity: Online and offline advertised. Football League 2026 is the clearest fit for someone who wants one free football game that acknowledges both types of play. Its US App Store listing advertises online or offline play and includes national and club competitions, custom leagues, international cups and regional competitions.

7. World Soccer Champs — best lightweight career option

8. Soccer Super Star — best for simple swipe controls
Connectivity: Offline-friendly candidate; verify ads and modes. Soccer Super Star strips football down to swipe-based actions. Instead of controlling every player continuously, you draw passes, shots and movements to complete attacking sequences. That makes it easy to learn and well suited to short sessions.
It is closer to an arcade challenge game than eFootball or FC Mobile. Players looking for tactical 11-a-side control may find it limited, while those who want a quick game on an older or less powerful phone may prefer its simpler format.
Because free-to-play games often use connected advertising, rewards or purchase validation, verify what remains available with both Wi-Fi and cellular data turned off.

- Football Manager 26 Mobile: Netflix explicitly lists offline play as supported. Remember that local saves are not backed up to the cloud.
- Football League 2026: The iOS listing explicitly advertises online and offline play, but check which specific modes and save functions work offline.
Offline-friendly, but confirm the current build

For these games, “offline-friendly” is deliberately narrower than “offline verified.” A game may let you play against AI while still requiring internet access for first-run setup, ads, rewards, roster updates, cloud synchronization or purchase restoration.
Online-first or connection-required
- eFootball: Current official mobile information emphasizes online play.
- EA SPORTS FC Mobile: PvP, leagues, tournaments and other core features are online-focused.
- Dream League Soccer 2026: The current US iOS listing says an internet connection is required.
- Online Soccer Manager: Designed around online management.
What “online” and “offline” really mean
Live PvP means playing another person in real time. Asynchronous multiplayer means competing through rankings, clubs, leagues or scheduled results without sharing the same live match. Online events include seasonal tournaments, login rewards and live challenges. Cloud-connected progression means the match may be against AI but the game still needs a connection to validate or save progress.
Local multiplayer is different again: two people play on the same device or through a local connection. A game being available on both Android and iPhone does not prove that cross-platform multiplayer exists.
For this article, a strict offline game should launch without internet, allow a meaningful match, career or management session, save core progress locally and avoid requiring an online check after every session.
How to test offline play yourself
- Install the game and complete its initial setup while online.
- Close it fully.
- Disable both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Relaunch the app and start an AI match, career session or management turn.
- Complete the session and confirm that progress saves.
- Reconnect and check whether the saved progress remains intact.
Repeat the test after a major update if offline play is important. Reinstalling or changing devices can remove locally stored saves, as specifically documented for Football Manager 26 Mobile.
