The 2021 “10 Best VR Sword Fighting Games” roundup is best read as a historical shortlist, not a current, verified top ten: it names nine VR games and one honorable mention that the page says is not a VR game. For today’s choice, start with the combat style you want—physics sandbox, arcade roguelite, or comic arena—and then confirm the exact game edition and headset on its store page.
How to choose a VR sword-fighting game
- Combat feel: Physics-led sandbox fighting gives you room to experiment; arcade combat uses clearer prompts and timing; slapstick arena fighting prioritizes spectacle.
- Session structure: Decide whether you want open-ended practice, short arena bouts, or a campaign and progression loop.
- Players: Check whether the specific edition supports the solo or multiplayer experience you want; the historical list spans different game types, not a single common format.
- Headset and storefront: Verify the listing for your headset and region before buying. A game appearing in one store collection does not prove support or availability everywhere.
- Violence and tone: The games range from stylized action to deliberately gory spectacle, so check the game’s presentation if that matters to you.
Best picks by combat style
Blade & Sorcery: physics-heavy sandbox combat
Choose Blade & Sorcery if you want a physics-focused combat sandbox rather than a tightly scripted sequence of attacks. The 2021 coverage by UploadVR characterizes it as a complex sandbox combat simulator. On Meta’s current fighting-game collection, the listed Quest version is Blade & Sorcery: Nomad; verify the listing for the headset and region you use, because the collection is not a complete compatibility guide for every historical version.

Until You Fall: directed arcade and roguelite combat
Until You Fall suits players who prefer clear attack and defense cues over freeform physics experimentation. UploadVR describes its combat as arcade-driven, with prompted blocking and attacks, and identifies it as a roguelite. It is also included in Meta’s current fighting-game collection; confirm the individual store page for your device before purchasing.
GORN: comic gladiator spectacle
GORN is the pick for exaggerated gladiator combat and slapstick presentation. UploadVR describes it as gory, so its tone is a meaningful part of the choice, not just a visual detail. Meta’s current collection includes GORN 2; that listing does not establish that the original GORN is available for every headset or region.

- ✅ WHY YOU NEED THIS: FROM AIR-SWIPING TO TRUE SWORDSMANSHIP. Tired of awkwardly waving your hands in the air, feeling disconnected from your virtual blade? Bare controllers lack the weight, leverage, and orientation of a real hilt, leading to poor precision and shattered immersion. This handle grounds your experience, transforming those imprecise "air swipes" into deliberate, powerful, and accurate strikes. It’s the critical link that makes you feel like you're holding a real sword, not just a piece of plastic.
- ✅ KEEP YOUR CUSTOM GRIPS: SILICONE COVER COMPATIBLE. No need to sacrifice comfort for immersion! We designed our handle with your existing setup in mind. The smart latching system is engineered to securely accommodate controllers even when they are equipped with most third-party silicone protective covers. Keep your favorite textured, sweat-resistant grip on your controller and simply snap it into a more immersive hilt experience.
- ✅ DYNAMIC COMBAT FREEDOM: HALF-SHELL QUICK-RELEASE DESIGN. In the heat of battle, versatility is key. Our unique semi-enclosed design allows you to instantly detach a controller with one hand for dual-wielding, using a shield, or performing single-handed fencing maneuvers. Re-attaching is just as fast. Go from a two-handed greatsword to a sword-and-shield combo in seconds. Your gear should adapt to your playstyle, not limit it.
- ✅ FIND YOUR PERFECT GRIP: ADJUSTABLE ANGLE & ROTATION. Not all swords are created equal. A katana is held differently from a European longsword. Our handle is the ONLY one that understands this. Featuring an adjustable pivot, you can change the angle and orientation of the controller within the hilt to perfectly match the weapon you're wielding in-game. This ensures optimal ergonomics and alignment for every blade, maximizing your comfort and control.
- ✅ FULLY MODULAR & AMBIDEXTROUS: BUILT FOR EVERY PLAYER. Left-handed? Right-handed? Prefer a specific hand on top? No problem. Our handle features a fully modular assembly, allowing you to easily configure it for left-hand or right-hand dominance. Swap the upper and lower hand positions to create the most comfortable and intuitive two-handed grip for you. It's a truly personalized setup, built to fit you perfectly.
Swordsman VR: campaign, arena, and events on PlayStation VR
Swordsman VR offers a different structure for PlayStation players: the PlayStation Store describes campaign, arena, and event modes. Its PSVR2 listing specifies a minimum 2 m × 2 m area for roomscale play. Check that you are looking at the edition and headset generation you own, particularly when comparing PSVR and PSVR2 listings.

Why the title says ten when the list is not ten VR games
The roundup’s ninth VR entry is Tales of Glory. Its “honorable mention” is Hellish Quart, which the page explicitly says is not a VR game. That makes the title a useful search label for the 2021 article, but not a literal count of ten VR sword-fighting games. The ranking is editorial opinion, not a measured or universal result.

Meta’s current fighting-game collection includes Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, GORN 2, Until You Fall, and Swords of Gargantua. The collection establishes what Meta currently groups there; it does not establish support on other headsets or availability in every region. Use the individual official listing for the version you intend to play. For other platforms, check the relevant official store rather than relying on a 2021 roundup’s platform details.
Rank #3
- Quick Magnetic Controller Attachment: Effortlessly attach and detach your controllers with strong magnetic surfaces, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted gameplay. Ideal for fast-paced FPS games on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro
- Customizable Design for All Playstyles: Easily adjust the gunstock to fit any VR game setup. Six hand-tightened screws allow you to modify the length and position for a personalized experience, whether you prefer a sniper or shotgun configuration
- Realistic and Immersive Gaming Feel: Designed with true-to-life dimensions, the adjustable length (11-14.5 inches) provides a natural and ergonomic grip. Enjoy a more realistic shooting experience compared to typical VR accessories
- Comfortable Leather Cheek Pad: Improve your aim with an adjustable leather-covered cheek pad that adds stability and comfort. The design closely mimics real shooting postures, enhancing accuracy and immersion during gameplay
- Convenient Two-Point Sling: The included adjustable shoulder strap keeps your gunstock secure and within reach. Perfect for quick transitions and easy handling during intense VR gaming sessions
The Swords of Gargantua developer-distributed announcement dated August 5, 2021 also names “Steam BEST OF VR 2020 BRONZE” and “Oculus Quest Store HALL OF FAME 2020” and “Oculus Quest Store HALL OF FAME 2021.” These are recognitions cited by that announcement, not independent evidence that the game is currently sold or supported.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need a VR sword grip?
No. A two-handed controller hilt or sword grip is an optional accessory category, not a requirement for these games. A surfaced listing is not enough to establish current stock, fit for a particular controller revision, build quality, or a gameplay advantage. Check those details against the exact accessory and headset you own before ordering; do not assume an attachment changes a game’s physics.
