If Minecraft Launcher says “No Internet Connection” while your browser works, the PC may not be offline. The usual causes are a Microsoft-account mismatch, a broken Microsoft Store component, damaged app data, or a firewall, VPN, proxy, or network problem affecting Microsoft’s gaming services.

Try these four fixes in order. They apply primarily to the Windows version of Minecraft Launcher; Windows 11 and Windows 10 use different Settings paths.

While repairing Minecraft Launcher connectivity, Outbyte PC Repair can scan Windows networking components and adjust settings that may interfere.

1. Sign in to the same Microsoft account everywhere

Minecraft Launcher, Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app must use the same Microsoft account—and that account must own your Minecraft license. If one app is signed in with a different account, the Launcher can show a misleading connection or sign-in error even though normal Internet access works.

  1. Close Minecraft Launcher, Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app.
  2. Open each app and sign out.
  3. Sign back in to the same Microsoft account in Minecraft Launcher, Microsoft Store, and Xbox.
  4. Confirm that this account owns the Minecraft license, then restart the Launcher.

Minecraft’s Windows troubleshooting guidance recommends signing out of Minecraft, Microsoft Store, Xbox, and related running services before closing the programs and signing in again. See Minecraft Launcher Support and Minecraft’s Windows troubleshooting guidance.

  • PLAY TOGETHER — Play cross-platform with friends in Bedrock Edition on console, mobile, and PC, or join community servers in Java Edition on PC, Mac, and Linux. Online console multiplayer requires a platform-specific subscription (sold separately).

When this is the likely fix: the browser works, Microsoft Store or Xbox is signed into another account, or the Launcher recently changed accounts.

2. Reset and update Microsoft Store

The Launcher depends on Microsoft Store components. A damaged Store cache can prevent the Launcher from authenticating or downloading required data.

Reset the Store cache

  1. Close Microsoft Store.
  2. Press Windows logo key + R.
  3. Type wsreset.exe and select OK.
  4. Wait for the blank Command Prompt window to close. Microsoft says this normally takes about 10 seconds, after which Microsoft Store opens automatically.

Microsoft documents this procedure in Microsoft Store troubleshooting, and Minecraft lists Store-cache resetting as a possible Launcher fix in its Windows Launcher troubleshooting guidance.

Install Store updates

On Windows 11, open:

Start > Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates

On Windows 10, open:

Start > Microsoft Store > See more (...) > Downloads and updates > Get updates

Do not use the Windows 10 “Downloads and updates” path on Windows 11; Microsoft’s current Windows 11 label is Library > Get updates. The complete Store procedure is listed by Microsoft in Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.

3. Repair or reset Minecraft Launcher and Microsoft gaming apps

Windows can repair an app without removing its installed data. If Repair does not help, Reset clears the app’s stored data and settings, so you may need to sign in again afterward.

On Windows 11:

  1. Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Select the More (…) button beside Minecraft Launcher.
  3. Choose Advanced options, then Repair.
  4. Try the Launcher again. If the error remains, return to the same screen and choose Reset.

Repeat the process for Xbox, Microsoft Store, and Gaming Services if they appear in the installed-app list.

On Windows 10, use:

Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features

Select the app, choose Advanced options, and select Repair or Reset. Some Windows apps do not provide these options; Microsoft documents that limitation in Repair apps and programs in Windows.

If Microsoft Store itself is not registered

If Store continues failing, check its registration from a non-elevated PowerShell window:

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore*

If the package exists for the machine but is not registered for the current user, Microsoft documents this command:

Add-AppxPackage -RegisterByFamilyName -MainPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Run it in a normal PowerShell prompt, not an elevated one. Using elevated PowerShell can register Microsoft Store for the administrator account rather than the user who needs it. Do not try to completely uninstall Microsoft Store: Microsoft says that removal is unsupported. Follow the Store guidance in Microsoft’s Microsoft Store app troubleshooting documentation.

4. Check blocked services, then reset Windows networking

If the account is correct and the apps are repaired, the Launcher may be unable to reach Microsoft or Xbox endpoints even though websites load. This commonly points to an application-specific firewall block, VPN, proxy, filtering DNS service, corporate network policy, or security product.

Check the simple restrictions first

  • Temporarily disconnect from a VPN and retry.
  • Check whether Windows or a security suite is blocking Minecraft Launcher, Xbox, Microsoft Store, or Gaming Services.
  • On a managed work or school network, ask the administrator whether Microsoft Store and Xbox service endpoints are filtered.
  • Make sure the system date and time are correct, since account authentication can fail when Windows has an incorrect clock.

Microsoft notes that ordinary browsing can work while an app is blocked by a firewall, VPN, or proxy. Microsoft Store also requires access to service endpoints, including Windows Update endpoints, to install and update apps. See Microsoft’s Windows connectivity troubleshooting and Store endpoint troubleshooting.

On Windows 11, Microsoft’s current first-line diagnostic is the automated Network and Internet troubleshooter in the Get Help app. Run it before making more disruptive changes.

Reset Windows networking

Use Network reset only after checking the account and app components. It restarts the PC and can require network software such as VPN clients to be configured again.

On Windows 11:

Start > Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset > Reset now > Yes

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

On Windows 10:

Start > Settings > Network & internet > Status > Network reset > Reset now > Yes

Windows restarts after the reset. Once back at the desktop, reconnect to Wi‑Fi or Ethernet, sign in again if necessary, and test Minecraft Launcher.

What not to change for this error

Do not treat every Minecraft connection message as a server-port problem. Opening port 25565 is associated with hosting or joining a Minecraft server, not normal Launcher sign-in or Microsoft Store downloads. Likewise, disabling IPv6, changing DNS, or adding arbitrary firewall rules is not a universal fix and can create new security or connectivity problems. First address authentication, Store cache or registration, app repair, and access to Microsoft’s required service endpoints.

Windows 10 note

Microsoft support for Windows 10 ended on October 14, 2025. Microsoft no longer provides free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10 after that date. The troubleshooting paths above still distinguish Windows 10 from Windows 11 because their menus differ, but upgrading to a supported Windows release may be necessary for ongoing compatibility and security.

Which fix should you try first?

Symptom Best first step
Browser works but Launcher says there is no connection Sign out and back in with the same account across Launcher, Store, and Xbox
Microsoft Store will not open or update Run wsreset.exe, then use Store’s update page
Launcher or Xbox behaves incorrectly after an update Repair the affected app, then Reset if necessary
Several Microsoft gaming apps fail while websites work Check VPN, proxy, firewall, and managed-network restrictions
Windows networking itself is unstable Run Get Help’s network troubleshooter, then consider Network reset

In most cases, start with the account check and Microsoft Store cache reset because they are quick and do not alter your network configuration. Move to app reset and Network reset only if the earlier steps fail.
