If you want another game with Stardew Valley’s blend of farming, relationships, and a life built at your own pace, the five games in Harry Mourtzanakis’s March 12, 2023 list each emphasize a different part of that mix. Coral Island leans into island life and diving; Wylde Flowers adds witchcraft and a more authored story; Travellers Rest makes you an innkeeper; Core Keeper shifts the action underground; and Disney Dreamlight Valley centers quests with Disney characters. They are alternatives for different tastes, not five copies of Stardew Valley or a current ranking.
Which game like Stardew Valley should you choose?

Coral Island: farming and community life on a tropical island
Choose Coral Island if the farming, friendships, and daily routines are what you most want to revisit, but you would like a different setting and more exploration. The game layers island activities, including diving, onto its farming and relationship loop. Its Steam listing describes farming with friends, animals, relationships, diving, and online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. The listing gives November 14, 2023 as its release date; Stairway Games’ site announced that update 1.3 was available on June 18, 2026. The 2023 article called the game Early Access and said multiplayer was missing then; neither statement should be read as current guidance.
Coral Island’s Steam listing also says its community has more than 70 people. That is the listing’s own product copy, not an independently verified player count. See Coral Island on Steam; see Stairway Games.

Wylde Flowers: farming, witchcraft, and a more authored story
Wylde Flowers combines farm life with learning magic, brewing potions, mining, and getting to know the people of a community with a local mystery. Studio Drydock’s press kit describes the rhythm as farming by day and magic by night, and says the characters are fully voice-acted. Its listed platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Apple Arcade.
This is the strongest pick here if you want character and plot progression alongside the farming. Mourtzanakis’s 2023 article characterized it as less replayable than Stardew Valley; that is the author’s comparative judgment, not an official product specification. Read the Wylde Flowers press kit.
Travellers Rest: trade the farmhouse for an inn
Travellers Rest is for players who enjoy crafting and growing supplies but want their central job to be running a business. The 2023 article describes a loop of building and upgrading an inn, farming, exploring, forming local relationships, brewing drinks, and hosting co-op play. Instead of making the farm the whole focus, you use production and hospitality to develop the inn.
That article also mentioned animal husbandry and continuing updates as future plans at the time. Those were 2023 roadmap statements, not confirmation of current features. Current platform, edition, and multiplayer details are not established here, so check the game’s current store listing before buying for a particular device or arranging co-op.

- You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life.
- Now with Multiplayer! Invite 1-3 players to join you in the valley! Players can work together to build a thriving farm, share resources, and build relationships with townspeople or each other.
- New Single Player Content! Including the new Winter Market Festival, more collectibles, added character cut-scenes and even hats for your horse!
Core Keeper: take the farming-and-building loop underground
If you want less pastoral routine and more exploration, Core Keeper moves the familiar ingredients of gathering, building, and progression into caves. Mourtzanakis’s 2023 description highlights making a base, farming, mining, upgrading equipment, exploring, fighting bosses, and playing with others. It suits someone who likes the incremental improvements in Stardew Valley but wants combat and underground discovery to play a larger role.
The 2023 article described Core Keeper as Early Access and discussed multiplayer. Those details are a dated snapshot, not a statement of its current release status or co-op availability. Current platform and edition information is not established here; check a current store listing for the platform you use.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: quests and familiar characters
Disney Dreamlight Valley pairs activities such as farming and mining with quests involving Disney characters. It is a better fit if you want a life simulation guided more by story and character objectives than by the open-ended sandbox feel many players associate with Stardew Valley. That story-versus-sandbox distinction is the 2023 article’s editorial comparison, rather than a measured genre category.
Early-access and planned-multiplayer descriptions in the 2023 list are dated. Gameloft’s support page for the Honeyglow Woods release, dated July 8, 2026, lists PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and 4, and Xbox Series and Xbox One. That platform information applies to that named release; it should not be taken as a guarantee about every edition or feature of the base game. Check Gameloft’s Disney Dreamlight Valley support information.
How these games compare with Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley remains the broadest match if you want its particular combination of open-ended country life, farming, and community routines. ConcernedApe’s official press page calls it an open-ended country-life RPG and reported more than 41 million copies sold across all platforms as of December 2024, including more than 26 million on PC and 7.9 million on Nintendo Switch. These are publisher-reported figures, not independently audited statistics. The same page lists Switch support. See the official Stardew Valley press page.
- Pick Coral Island for a tropical farming-and-community setting with diving.
- Pick Wylde Flowers for farming, magic, voice-acted characters, and a story focus.
- Pick Travellers Rest for inn management, making products, and hospitality as the central activity.
- Pick Core Keeper for cave exploration, mining, base-building, and boss fights.
- Pick Disney Dreamlight Valley for quests and life-simulation activities with Disney characters.
The five recommendations come from Mourtzanakis’s March 12, 2023 article. Its framing and release-state notes belong to that date; for a purchase, confirm the current edition, platform, and features with the relevant game listing.
