What changed in Erangel?
Update 40.1 ended Erangel’s Subzero state and restored familiar map features. PUBG’s development team said in the patch notes, “With Update 40.1, Erangel returns to its familiar form after two months of abnormal weather.” The team also said the seasonal change offered insight into how environmental changes affect combat flow and gameplay.
- Subzero-specific items and features were removed.
- The Red Zone and ferries returned.
- Destructible Gas Tanks were added.
- The All-In-One Repair Kit, Emergency Cover Flare, and Jammer Pack were added to Secret Room spawns.
- Building interior lighting was improved.
DMR balance changes
PUBG adjusted the Mk12 and SLR. The developer said the Mk12 change addressed its high Ranked usage, while the SLR adjustment was intended to broaden weapon choice; these are the developer’s stated reasons, not published player-population statistics.

How the console Virtual Cursor works
Console players can use the new Virtual Cursor to navigate menu screens, including Lobby, Store, Customize, and Career. Move the cursor with the left stick, select with A on Xbox or X on PlayStation, and scroll with the right stick. No additional controller or accessory is specified as necessary.
Existing interaction methods remain available for text input, platform purchase flows, and the Lobby Action Wheel. The Virtual Cursor is an added menu-navigation option, not a replacement for those interactions.

No. Update 40.1 is a historical patch. PUBG’s official patch-notes archive lists later updates through Update 43.1 as of October 7, 2026. Consult that archive for the current update information rather than treating 40.1 as the latest version.
