PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf players teleport, actions register late, or your character rubber-bands, you are probably dealing with network lag. If the screen merely stutters, the problem may instead be graphics or system lag. The six fixes below start with diagnosis, then move through Wi-Fi, router, Windows, security software, and ISP-routing checks.
Roblox distinguishes network lag from graphics and system lag. Lowering graphics quality can improve frame rate, but it normally will not reduce the round-trip time to a Roblox server. See Roblox’s lag guide for the distinction.

Quick diagnosis: ping or FPS?
| What you notice | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Players teleport, hits register late, or movement catches up after a pause | Network lag |
| The picture stutters and camera movement feels choppy | Graphics lag or low FPS |
| The whole computer slows down when Roblox is open | System lag or overloaded hardware |
| Only one experience is affected | That experience’s server, scripts, assets, or regional routing |
| Every device on the network lags | Router, congestion, modem, ISP, or upstream routing |
| A phone hotspot works but home internet does not | Home network or ISP route |
For graphics lag, press Esc → Settings, turn off Graphics Quality – Auto, and lower the graphics level. Close demanding background applications if the entire PC is slow. Those steps address rendering and system load, not genuine network latency.

1. Check Roblox Status and try another experience
Start with the possibility that nothing is wrong with your setup. Check the official Roblox Status page for incidents involving Games, Player, Game Join, or related services. Then join a second, unrelated experience.

- Open status.roblox.com.
- Check for an active incident or degraded service.
- Test another popular experience.
- Ask whether friends on different networks see the same issue.
Roblox says outages and maintenance can cause lag, delays, and failed joins. A green status page does not prove that your ISP route or one particular experience is healthy; it only makes a broad Roblox outage less likely. If only one experience has high ping, report it to that experience’s developer or treat it as a server-specific problem before changing your entire network.
2. Use Ethernet or improve your Wi-Fi
Wireless interference, weak signal, and retransmissions can create ping spikes even when a speed test shows fast download speeds. The quickest test is to connect your PC or console directly to the router with Ethernet, which Roblox recommends for ruling out wireless problems.
- Connect the gaming device to the router with Ethernet.
- Play for several matches and compare stability, not just the average ping.
- If Ethernet is unavailable, move closer to the router.
- Use 5 GHz or 6 GHz when close enough for a strong signal.
- Use 2.4 GHz when distance and wall penetration matter more than speed.
- Temporarily disconnect unnecessary devices and pause large transfers.
Microsoft’s Wi-Fi guidance also recommends testing another band, another device, and Ethernet. If Ethernet fixes Roblox, focus on Wi-Fi placement, interference, adapters, or the router. It cannot fix a distant Roblox server or poor ISP routing.

- Triple-Level Game Acceleration - The GT-BE98 Pro boosts your PC gaming traffic every step of the way, from your PC gaming port all the way to the game server.
3. Restart the modem and router, then stop congestion
A restart can clear temporary router state and establish a fresh ISP connection. Congestion is equally important: a saturated upload or download queue can make every game packet wait.
- Close Roblox.
- Unplug the router.
- If the modem is separate, unplug it too.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Power the modem on first and wait for its connection lights to stabilize.
- Power the router on, reconnect your device, and test again.
Pause game and operating-system downloads, cloud backups, torrents, 4K streaming, live broadcasts, large uploads, and other household gaming sessions. If your router offers device prioritization, QoS, or SQM, test those features; labels and quality vary by manufacturer. If all devices lag during heavy traffic, queueing or bandwidth saturation is likely. If one device lags while others remain fine, investigate that device first.
4. Reset Windows networking and test the gateway
Windows 10 and Windows 11 only: reset the network stack if the problem follows the PC, especially after driver, VPN, or adapter changes.

- Search for Command Prompt.
- Choose Run as administrator.
- Run these commands in order:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
- Restart the computer and test Roblox.
These commands reset Winsock and TCP/IP, renew the local address, and clear the DNS resolver cache. Flushing DNS may help with slow starts or resolution failures, but it is not a guaranteed in-game ping reduction.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Check whether the local connection is unstable
- Run
ipconfigin Command Prompt. - Find Default Gateway under the active adapter.
- Ping that address, replacing the example:
ping 192.168.1.1
A stable gateway response with no packet loss suggests the PC can communicate reliably with the router. The remaining problem may be the modem, ISP, or route beyond your home. An unstable gateway ping points back to Wi-Fi, the adapter, the router, or local interference.
Use Windows network reset only as a last resort: Settings → Network & internet → Advanced network settings → Network reset → Reset now. It removes and reinstalls adapters and may require VPN clients, virtual switches, and other networking software to be configured again. Microsoft documents these procedures in its Windows connection troubleshooting guide.

5. Check VPNs, proxies, firewalls, and antivirus
Routing and security software can delay or block Roblox communication. Test methodically rather than permanently disabling protection.
- Disconnect any VPN and retest.
- Open Settings → Network & Internet → Proxy and disable an unwanted manual proxy.
- Temporarily pause third-party antivirus web or network protection for one controlled test.
- Re-enable protection immediately afterward.
- Allow Roblox through the security product and Windows Firewall instead of leaving protection disabled.
- Restart Roblox and compare several sessions.
Roblox’s guidance on firewalls and routers and third-party restrictions recommends allowing the application. Roblox currently identifies UDP ports 49152–65535 in its connection guidance, but do not expose that range through broad inbound port forwarding or disable your router firewall. Ask your ISP or network administrator about school, work, or managed networks.
A VPN is only an experiment for a bad ISP route. Try one nearby endpoint and compare multiple matches. It may improve routing, but it can also add distance, jitter, cost, or another failure point.

6. Test another network and identify the failing route
When local fixes fail, use a control test instead of repeating the same tweaks:
- Test the same device on home Wi-Fi.
- Test it on Ethernet.
- Test it on a phone hotspot, if practical.
- Test another device on the home network.
- Test a different Roblox experience.
| Result | Likely explanation |
|---|---|
| Ethernet fixes the problem | Wi-Fi interference, signal, or wireless router issue |
| Hotspot fixes it | Home router, home ISP, or ISP-to-Roblox route |
| Every network has the problem | Roblox, the experience, the device, or client performance |
| Only one experience is affected | Experience server, scripts, assets, or server allocation |
| Only one device is affected | Driver, adapter, security software, or local configuration |
| Multiple nearby users are affected | Regional service or ISP issue |
Contact your ISP when gateway pings lose packets, multiple devices lag, wired performance remains poor, or a hotspot works normally. Provide the spike times, Ethernet result, affected devices, gateway-ping results, experience names, and recent router or ISP changes.
Contact Roblox Support when the issue persists across networks or appears tied to Roblox or a particular experience. Include your username, device model, operating-system version, error messages, reproduction steps, experience name, spike times, and recent device or network changes. Roblox’s client-server model means server-side conditions and route-specific problems can feel like an internet fault, but it does not guarantee that players can manually choose a server.

DNS: useful for connection starts, not a magic ping switch
DNS finds the service address; it is different from the round-trip latency of an established game session. Testing another DNS provider may help if Roblox starts slowly or repeatedly fails to resolve services, but it usually will not change the physical route used after you join. Measure before and after rather than assuming improvement. Microsoft identifies automatic DNS configuration through DHCP as the recommended default for most users; see its essential network settings guide.
What not to do
- Do not lower graphics to “fix ping.” It addresses FPS and rendering load.
- Do not assume flushing DNS lowers latency. It mainly addresses resolver or connection-start issues.
- Do not buy a gaming VPN first. Prove that routing is the problem, then compare results.
- Do not open all Roblox ports to the internet. Use application allow-listing and administrator help.
- Do not treat a fast speed test as proof of low ping. Distance, routing, queueing, jitter, and server conditions matter.
- Do not use a random website ping as a Roblox test. Different destinations take different routes.
- Do not reinstall Roblox as a primary latency fix. Reinstallation can repair damaged client files, but it will not normally fix ISP routing.
Console and mobile players
The Windows commands and menu paths above do not apply to PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, or Android. Platform-neutral steps are to check Roblox Status, restart the modem/router, use Ethernet where supported, reduce household traffic, test another network, update the Roblox app and device software, and compare another experience. Use Roblox’s platform-specific support categories for device instructions.
