If Ready or Not multiplayer is not working, first identify whether you cannot send a friend request, find a lobby, join a host, or stay connected. Those symptoms point to different causes. Update the game and check current Steam and VOID Interactive notices, then try the targeted checks below. No live Ready or Not service status is established here, so a connection failure alone does not confirm an outage.
1. Check service notices and update the game
Before changing settings, check Steam status and VOID Interactive’s Ready or Not announcements and known issues. Availability can change, and an old fix may not address a current issue.

VOID Interactive’s May 5, 2026 v1.4.3 announcement says the patch focused on online authentication connectivity and achievement issues. Its changelog includes a fix for cases where players became stuck during Epic Online Services (EOS) authentication, while noting that the studio was still tracking other bugs. This documents a past authentication problem; it does not show that every current multiplayer failure has the same cause.
- Install any available Ready or Not update through the store where you own the game.
- Restart the game and retry the same multiplayer action.
- If it still fails, compare the exact symptom with current official announcements before moving to account, lobby, or network checks.
2. If cross-play friend requests fail on PC, check Epic setup
For the specific problem of being unable to send or accept Ready or Not cross-play friend requests after linking Steam and Epic accounts, Epic Games Support recommends installing the Epic Games Launcher on the PC.

Install or update the launcher, then try the friend request again. This recommendation applies to that PC cross-play friend-request symptom; it is not a general remedy for failed lobbies or dropped connections. The available support information does not establish a complete list of supported cross-play platforms or exact account-linking screens.
3. Test lobby compatibility with a clean session
If you can invite friends but cannot find or join a lobby, first try an unmodded session. A Steam Community discussion dated July 16, 2025 includes player suggestions to clear mods and, where relevant, enable joining modded lobbies. These are community-reported troubleshooting ideas, not official fixes or universal requirements.

- Have the host and joining player try a clean, unmodded session.
- If that works, add mods back cautiously to identify whether a mod or lobby compatibility is involved.
- If you are deliberately joining a modded lobby, check the relevant lobby setting and retry; revert the setting if it makes no difference.
See the Ready or Not Steam Community discussions. A community report can suggest a test, but it cannot confirm the cause for every player.
4. Restart and test cross-play settings carefully
The same community discussion suggests restarting and toggling cross-play as experiments. Try these only when they match your situation, especially if the failure involves cross-play matchmaking. Note the original setting first so you can restore it if the test does not help.

- Close and reopen the game, then retry the same session or invite.
- If cross-play is enabled, test with it disabled, or vice versa, when the option is available.
- Change one thing at a time, record the result, and return the setting to its original state if there is no improvement.
These steps are anecdotal, may change matchmaking behavior, and are not confirmed official remedies.
5. Isolate Steam, firewall, or local network problems
If multiplayer fails across sessions or your connection is unstable, use Steam Support’s general connectivity guidance. It recommends checking Steam server status, testing a direct wired connection to distinguish Wi-Fi or router problems, troubleshooting firewall interference, and disabling background applications that may affect Steam.

- Compare networks: If practical, try another connection. If the game works there, the original network or its settings may be involved.
- Test wired: Connect directly to the router with Ethernet if Wi-Fi or powerline instability is suspected. Treat this as a diagnostic, not a guaranteed fix.
- Check security settings: Review firewall rules for Steam and the game rather than turning off protection wholesale.
- Reduce interference: Close background applications temporarily, then retry to see whether one affects connectivity.
Steam’s instructions are general connectivity steps, not Ready or Not-specific port instructions. They do not establish a port list, and opening arbitrary ports is not warranted by this guidance.

If the targeted checks do not resolve the problem, Steam identifies VOID Interactive as Ready or Not’s official support provider and lists [email protected]. VOID’s v1.4.3 announcement also directs players to the official Ready or Not Discord bug-report channels and its known-issues channel.
