The right pick depends on match length, whether you want battle royale as the main event or one mode inside a broader shooter, how much your phone can handle, and whether you plan to use a controller. The list below is a shortlist of current candidates. Entries are ordered by how strongly official or store-level evidence supports each one as a battle royale playable on phones. It is not a performance test, and this guide does not include frame-rate, battery, or matchmaking measurements.
How the order was set
Each entry was judged on three points:
- Whether the game’s own publisher or official store page describes a battle royale mode on phones.
- Whether the game appears with official download links or in Apple’s editorial mobile games collection.
- How directly the entry matches a battle royale format. A third-party Android comparison, checked on August 29, 2026, keeps extraction shooters separate from battle royale games, and this list follows the same split.
The order is not a quality score. Store placement and chart positions are snapshots that change over time and by market, so they are noted only where they add context.

The shortlist
1. PUBG MOBILE
This is the best-documented entry. The official site links to both the App Store and Google Play. The Google Play description says Classic Mode supports 100-player battles and lists other maps and modes, voice chat, and customizable controls. Apple’s editorial collection also features the game. It suits players who want a large-scale battle royale as the main attraction.
2. Call of Duty: Mobile
Activision describes this as a free-to-play game designed exclusively for mobile phones. It includes a 100-player battle royale map, other multiplayer modes, and customizable controls, and it requires an internet connection. Activision’s own page puts it this way: “Activision’s free-to-play CALL OF DUTY®: MOBILE has it all.” It is the better fit if you already enjoy Call of Duty-style shooting and want battle royale as one mode among several. Apple’s editorial collection also names it.

3. Garena Free Fire
Garena describes Free Fire as a free-to-play mobile survival shooter with Battle Royale and Clash Squad modes, and says matches can last ten minutes. That short format makes it the most practical choice if you have only a short session. The publisher also describes Free Fire MAX as offering visual upgrades and Firelink connectivity with Free Fire players. Visual upgrades generally ask more of a phone, so check the MAX store listing against your device before choosing it over the standard version.
4. Fortnite
Fortnite was listed on the US App Store Action chart when checked. That is a US chart reading at one point in time, not a global ranking, and it does not show that the game is offered in your country or on your model of phone. Confirm local availability and device support before installing. The sources reviewed do not describe its battle royale format in detail, so its inclusion rests on chart evidence alone.

5. Blood Strike
This entry comes from a single third-party Android comparison. Confirm its current store listing, supported devices, and regional availability before installing, since none of these were confirmed in an official source.
6. NEW STATE MOBILE
NEW STATE MOBILE appears in Apple’s mobile games collection and in a third-party Android comparison. Check its regional listing status and whether it has received recent updates, because either can change how well it runs on your phone.

9. Bullet Echo, Rocket Bot Royale, or OVERDOX
Apple’s collection includes all three. This slot is conditional. Pick one only after confirming that it is available on both platforms and that it is a full battle royale rather than a mode adjacent to one.
10. Tenth place: not yet confirmed
The sources behind this guide do not establish a tenth game with comparable current, cross-platform evidence. A third-party Android comparison lists further candidates, but it is not an official source, so none is added here.

Low-end phones: what the evidence does and does not show
None of the sources measure performance on budget or older hardware. Nothing here establishes which game runs best on a low-end Android phone. Use this checklist instead:
- Read the minimum device requirements on the store listing before installing.
- Avoid visually upgraded versions, such as Free Fire MAX, on older hardware unless the listing states that your device is supported.
- Shorter matches, such as the ten-minute Free Fire format described by Garena, reduce how long you play. They do not reduce how much processing a single match requires.
- Lower the graphics and frame-rate settings in each game’s options menu. The available options differ by title and device, so test them after installing.
Controls and controllers
PUBG MOBILE and Call of Duty: Mobile both describe customizable controls in their official material. The sources do not confirm controller compatibility for any title on this list. If you plan to use a controller, check the game’s control settings and your phone’s supported accessories before buying one.

Checking availability in your region
- Open the game’s Google Play listing on Android and look for a compatibility message in place of the install button.
- On iPhone, open the game’s App Store page and confirm it is offered in your storefront.
- Check the last-updated date on the listing. Dates in third-party roundups can be out of date.
