Experiment with the weapons and powerups you find, read choices before making them, and pay attention to how your team can support one another. LORT is a 1–8 player co-op action roguelite from Big Distraction, available in Early Access on Steam since January 21, 2026. The tips below stick to what the game’s official listing establishes; they are starting points, not a ranking of builds or weapons.
8 beginner tips for your first LORT runs
1. Learn the run loop before optimizing
The Steam listing describes runs built around fighting, looting, gaining power, and trying to escape. Treat an early run as a chance to see how those pieces connect. You do not need to settle on a perfect build before you understand what the game offers during a run. LORT on Steam
2. Try different weapons and swap when useful
The official description names swords, wands, bows, and guns, and says you can swap weapons freely. Try the options you find rather than assuming you must commit to one weapon type from the outset. The listing does not establish a universally strongest weapon.
3. Look for ways your attacks can complement one another
The game’s description encourages players to combine attacks and cover one another. In a group, pay attention to what teammates are doing and look for opportunities to help when enemies pressure them. This is a general co-op principle, not a claim that LORT has fixed class roles.

4. Choose powerups with your current run in mind
LORT highlights mixing and stacking more than 100 powerups. When choosing one, consider how it fits with the weapons and other powers you already have. The official description supports experimentation, but does not identify a single best combination.
5. Read quest and ingredient choices before selecting
Choices can influence which enemies, cursed locations, and bosses appear. Take a moment to read the options and consider what kind of run they may lead to. The listing does not spell out hidden recipes or every choice’s precise effect, so avoid assuming more than the option itself tells you.

6. Observe bosses and change your approach
The store description warns that bosses hit hard and recommends learning their patterns and punishing weaknesses. Watch what a boss does before repeating the same attack plan. Specific tells and weaknesses are not established in the listing, so treat each encounter as something to observe rather than relying on an unverified universal tactic.
7. In co-op, stay aware of teammates who need help
The official description specifically mentions reviving friends and covering each other’s backs. Keep track of teammates and communicate when someone needs help. There is no confirmed class-based division of responsibility, so coordinate around the situation instead of assuming one player has a designated support role.

8. Recheck advice after updates
LORT is an Early Access game, and the developer says it is playable from start to finish while development continues. Official announcements have described changes to systems such as attributes, difficulty, weapons, and maps. A tip about a specific version may become outdated; check the official Steam announcements for dated patch information before relying on version-sensitive advice.
Should you play solo or online co-op?
Steam lists both single-player and online co-op. The supported distinction is about how you play with others: co-op gives you teammates to communicate with, cover, and revive. The available official information does not establish that solo or co-op is objectively easier, so choose based on whether you want to play alone or coordinate with a group.

What to know about LORT’s Early Access status
The Steam listing gives January 21, 2026 as LORT’s Early Access start date. The developer describes the game as playable from start to finish in its current state, while noting that development and content additions are ongoing.
