2. Compare your PC with the Steam requirements
Steam’s store page lists the following requirements for the Windows PC version. The listing can change, so check the current DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 Steam page when comparing your hardware.

These are Steam’s listed baselines, not a guarantee that every system meeting them will run without crashing. Check your actual processor, graphics adapter, RAM, Windows version, and DirectX information before considering hardware changes.
3. Update Windows and your graphics driver
Outdated Windows components or graphics drivers can contribute to startup or graphics problems in PC games, according to Capcom’s general Steam-game troubleshooting guidance. That advice is not specific to Xenoverse 2, so treat an update as a diagnostic step rather than a guaranteed cure.

- Check for a current driver using the official support or driver page for your graphics-card manufacturer.
- After updating, test the game and note whether the crash timing or error message changes.
Avoid third-party driver download sites. If the crash began immediately after a driver change, record that fact; it may help you or support staff decide whether to investigate that change.

Steam’s file verification can identify missing or damaged installation files. It is a non-destructive diagnostic, not a promise that the game will repair every crash.

- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files and choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to finish, then launch the game and record the result.
If you use mods or have changed files, include that information when assessing the result. Steam Support’s Xenoverse 2 technical-issue page points players to support resources, but it is not itself a title-specific crash-fix guide.
5. Close overlays and demanding background apps for a test
Recording software, performance overlays, and other resource-heavy applications can affect game performance or stability, according to Capcom’s general Steam-game guidance. Close them temporarily and try to reproduce the crash under the same conditions. If the game behaves differently, reopen applications one at a time to narrow down whether one is involved; do not assume any single app is responsible without that comparison.

6. Review compatibility and display settings
If you manually enabled Windows compatibility mode for the game, test once with that setting disabled and compare the result. Change display settings only when the symptoms suggest a display-related issue—for example, a crash tied to changing display modes. Adjust one setting at a time and keep track of what you changed so you can restore it.
These are general troubleshooting options for Steam games, not confirmed Xenoverse 2-specific instructions. Avoid making several unrelated changes at once, since that makes it harder to tell what affected the crash.

7. Consider the shader cache only if relevant
Capcom’s general guidance notes that a damaged shader cache can contribute to some graphical problems and discusses game-generated files named shader.cache or shader.cache2. It does not establish that these files cause Xenoverse 2 crashes. Treat cache investigation as a later, conditional step if the problem appears graphics-related—not as a routine first fix. Do not delete unfamiliar files unless you have confirmed what they are and can restore them if needed.
8. Gather diagnostic details if the crash continues
A DxDiag report can collect your processor, memory, graphics card, graphics-driver version and date, DirectX version, and limited error information. It does not repair the game, but it can help support staff understand your setup. EA’s instructions explain how to generate a DxDiag report.
Capcom’s general Steam-game guide also suggests checking the game’s installation directory for a CrashReport folder and collecting any available crash archives. The folder or archives may not be present for every crash.

This makes the report more useful than saying only that Xenoverse 2 keeps crashing on PC.
Does Xenoverse 2 DLC fix crashes?
No crash fix is established by buying downloadable content. Steam lists DLC separately as optional digital content; it is not a troubleshooting step. Check the game installation and system diagnostics instead.
