The 8BitDo Pro 3 supports Nintendo Switch 2, but it cannot wake the console from sleep. Its magnetic ABXY buttons can be rearranged for Switch or Xbox-style labels, and it also works with Switch, Windows PC, SteamOS, Android and Apple devices. The preorder headline is now historical: 8BitDo’s store listed the controller at $69.99 USD but sold out when checked on October 7, 2026.
Is the 8BitDo Pro 3 still up for preorder?
No. The preorder period was part of the controller’s July 2025 launch. Nintendo Life reported on July 15, 2025 that preorders were open through 8BitDo and Amazon, with shipping then estimated to begin August 12, 2025. Those dates are historical, not current fulfillment information. Nintendo Life’s launch report gave a $69.99 launch price.

No. 8BitDo says the Pro 3 is compatible with Switch 2, but its Pro 3 FAQ says it cannot wake the console. According to the FAQ, Switch 2 wake-up works only with Joy-Con 2 or Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro Controller. You can use the Pro 3 to play after the console is awake; do not buy it expecting the wake-from-sleep function.
