The best FC 25 Career Mode team depends on the save you want: Coventry City offers a measured promotion challenge, Bromley is built for a long climb, and Paris Saint-Germain suits a quick trophy chase. This ranking puts the five clubs GamesRadar recommends first, then adds four clearly labeled alternatives for different storylines. It is an editorial ranking by challenge and story potential—not an official EA list or a claim about simulated results.
At a glance: choose by the save you want
| Rank | Team | Best fit | Why choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Coventry City | Balanced promotion challenge | GamesRadar highlights the in-game ground, a competitive-at-Championship-level budget, and low board expectations. |
| 2 | San Diego Wave | Women’s-club route to early success | GamesRadar points to a relatively strong NWSL budget and a squad with several highly rated players. |
| 3 | Napoli | Top-flight rebuild with room to compete | A substantial reported budget and named squad additions give the save a recruitment angle. |
| 4 | Bromley | Long-haul climb | GamesRadar reports the lowest League Two budget in its guide and very low board expectations. |
| 5 | Paris Saint-Germain | Low-friction trophy chase | A reported £187m starting budget makes PSG the guide’s straightforward buy-and-win option. |
| 6 | Blackburn Rovers | Championship save with a licensed ground | GamesRadar names Blackburn among the Championship clubs whose grounds are in the game. |
| 7 | Bristol City | Another stadium-led Championship option | Also named by GamesRadar as a club with its ground present. |
| 8 | Ipswich Town | Alternate-top-flight storyline | GamesRadar cites “un-relegating Ipswich” as a possible Live Start Point premise. |
| 9 | Manchester City | Title-defence pressure | GamesRadar contrasts Ipswich’s reversal with leading City to another title. |
The reported budgets, ratings, and board expectations below are GamesRadar’s article-era figures and descriptions, not guaranteed values in every FC 25 update or save. The four final entries are lighter extensions: the guide gives them a premise or stadium hook, not the same dedicated recommendation rationale as its first five.

1. Coventry City: the best balanced promotion challenge
Coventry is the strongest all-round choice if you want a meaningful first season without committing to a multi-year rebuild. GamesRadar points to Coventry’s in-game ground, describes its £9.6m transfer budget as competitive for the Championship, and says board expectations are low. Its suggested target—a first-season playoff push—gives the save a clear objective while leaving room to build over time. GamesRadar’s FC 25 team guide provides those details; check the budget and board setup in your chosen update and save.
2. San Diego Wave: the women’s-club route to early success
Choose San Diego Wave if you want to manage in women’s Career Mode and start with a squad GamesRadar considers strong. Its guide says only Angel City FC has a higher NWSL transfer budget and that San Diego begins with five players rated 80 or above, including goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and Emily van Egmond. That profile may suit a save centered on recruiting across women’s leagues while competing early. Player ratings and squad composition are version-specific, so treat those names and numbers as the guide’s snapshot, not a current guarantee. GamesRadar’s guide

3. Napoli: a top-flight rebuild that can still compete
Napoli offers a first-division project with room to make meaningful transfers rather than a pure survival challenge. GamesRadar reports a £71 million budget—smaller than Juventus’s in its article context—and names Romelu Lukaku, Billy Gilmour, and Scott McTominay in its team discussion. The budget and squad references reflect that guide’s article-era snapshot; they may not match the roster or finances in your update. GamesRadar’s team guide
4. Bromley: the best long-haul climb
Bromley is the pick if the point of the save is to make progress over several seasons, starting in England’s League Two. GamesRadar calls it the lowest League Two budget in its guide, reporting £805,000, and describes board expectations as “Very Low.” It says reaching the top flight from the bottom would take at least three seasons. That is a suggested minimum in the guide, not a guaranteed timetable: promotion depends on how your save unfolds. Verify the budget and board expectations in your game version. Rank #2
5. Paris Saint-Germain: a low-friction trophy chase
For a save focused on immediate trophies and signing top players, PSG is the uncomplicated choice. GamesRadar reports a £187m starting transfer budget in its article context and frames the club as a straightforward buy-strong-players-and-win option. This ranking places PSG below more distinctive projects because its challenge is lower, not because the team is weak. The reported figure is not a current guarantee; check your chosen update and save. GamesRadar’s team guide
Four more options for a different story
6. Blackburn Rovers: a ground-led Championship save
Blackburn is an extra option if an in-game stadium matters to your choice. GamesRadar lists Blackburn among the Championship clubs with grounds present in FC 25, alongside Bristol City and Coventry. The guide does not provide Blackburn-specific budget, squad, or board details comparable to its first five picks, so choose it for the setting rather than an assumed challenge profile. 7. Bristol City: another Championship ground option
Bristol City shares the stadium appeal GamesRadar identifies for Blackburn and Coventry. It is a reasonable second-tier alternative if you want a Championship save with that ground context, but the guide does not establish a particular budget, squad strength, or board objective for the club. GamesRadar’s guide
8. Ipswich Town: rewrite the season’s outcome
GamesRadar uses “un-relegating Ipswich” as an example of rewinding the 2024–25 season through a Live Start Point. That makes Ipswich a clear alternate-top-flight storyline: take the club into the season and try to change its fate. It is a scenario premise, not a source-backed ranking or assessment of Ipswich’s current squad. GamesRadar’s guide

9. Manchester City: defend the title under pressure

GamesRadar contrasts its example of leading City to yet another title with reversing Ipswich’s relegation. The guide presents this as a storyline example, not one of its five named recommendations. How to choose the right Career Mode team
- Decide the difficulty you want. PSG’s reported budget points toward a quick trophy chase; Bromley’s low-budget, lower-league profile is the longer climb.
- Set the time horizon. A first-season playoff push with Coventry is a different commitment from trying to take Bromley from League Two to the top flight.
- Choose the competition context. San Diego Wave gives you a women’s-club save; the other leading recommendations are men’s teams.
- Pick a narrative hook. Coventry and Bromley center on promotion, Napoli on a top-flight rebuild, Ipswich on changing a season’s outcome, and Manchester City on title defence.
- Check the version-specific details. Budgets, ratings, squads, and board expectations can change with updates and save settings. Use the recommendations for their save concepts, then confirm the details in your own game.
What Career Mode lets you shape
EA describes Manager Career as a mode in which you manage a club’s squad, tactics, transfers, finances, and player development. It also identifies Live Start Points and FC IQ among FC 25’s Career Mode features. Those systems mean team choice can shape more than difficulty: you can make a save about recruitment, tactical identity, development, or results. EA’s September 27, 2024 launch announcement also marked women’s football’s first arrival in Career Mode in the series. EA’s FC 25 launch announcement

EA VP and GM John Shepherd described FC 25 as bringing a “total overhaul of tactics, strategy, and authenticity with FC IQ.” That is the publisher’s stated intent, not independent evidence of how well the changes work in play. EA’s launch announcement
EA’s September 27, 2024 launch announcement lists more than 19,000 athletes across 700-plus teams, in more than 120 stadiums and 30-plus leagues. That scale helps explain why choosing a club can feel daunting, but it does not determine which save is best for you. EA’s FC 25 launch announcement
