Warhammer Survivors is a standalone game, not a Vampire Survivors DLC or a simple reskin. It shares the survivors-style loop of fighting enemy crowds, improving a character during a run and unlocking more content, but brings that format to the worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. As of October 7, 2026, it is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2026; Vampire Survivors has been released since 2022.
How are the games related?
Warhammer Survivors is being developed by Auroch Digital in partnership with Warhammer and poncle. Warhammer Community describes it as “completely standalone,” while placing it in the survivors-style game lineage. That makes it a separate game built around a related genre, not an expansion that requires Vampire Survivors.
Both games center on surviving waves of enemies and developing a stronger build as a run unfolds. Their official descriptions emphasize different progression details: Warhammer Survivors highlights gaining experience, collecting weapons and power-ups, evolving weapon combinations and unlocking characters and gear. Vampire Survivors describes gathering gold during a run to buy upgrades that help a future survivor.
What changes most: the setting and characters
Warhammer Survivors draws from two distinct settings: the science-fiction battlefields of Warhammer 40,000 and the fantasy realm of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Announced characters and foes include Malum Caedo, Morvenn Vahl, Neave Blacktalon, Tyranids, Skaven and Orks.

Vampire Survivors is poncle’s original gothic-horror game, with night creatures rather than Warhammer’s established factions and characters. The licensed worlds are the clearest confirmed difference between the games; the available official descriptions do not establish that their combat balance or moment-to-moment feel is identical.

Warhammer Survivors: release date, demo and platforms
Warhammer Community’s October 6, 2026 update gives November 10, 2026 as the launch date and says a demo is available on Steam and Xbox for PC. The demo includes two heroes: the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya. The same update announces more than 40 playable characters and more than 70 weapons; those figures describe the publisher’s announced scope as of that date.

Does Warhammer Survivors have co-op?
The official Warhammer sources cited here do not establish whether Warhammer Survivors supports co-op. Vampire Survivors has clearer documentation: Steam lists online co-op, and Nintendo lists one-to-four-player local co-op. The available sources do not support assuming multiplayer parity between the two games.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose Vampire Survivors if you want poncle’s released gothic-horror game and its documented co-op options.
- Watch or try the Warhammer Survivors demo if the Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar settings and characters are the main draw. The game is still upcoming as of October 7, 2026, so comparisons of the full release’s difficulty, run length, balance, performance and feel are not established here.
The key distinction is therefore not “same game or DLC?” Warhammer Survivors is a separate, upcoming game in a shared genre lineage, with Warhammer’s worlds and cast at its center.
