What is different between the two apps?
The main difference is the character: one features Peach and the other Luigi. Nintendo describes the same basic play format in both: touch and manipulate the character’s face, add objects or characters from a ? Block menu, and play peekaboo. Nintendo cautions that compatibility and play experience may differ on Nintendo Switch Lite; in some cases, additional accessories may be required. That warning does not say either app is incompatible with Switch Lite.
Do I need a Nintendo Account?
The product listings establish that the apps are free, but do not say whether a Nintendo Account must be created or linked to download or launch them. Free software and offline play do not, by themselves, establish that account access is unnecessary. Check the relevant regional eShop or Nintendo support information for the download flow in your region.

Can I play offline?
Yes, after downloading. Nintendo says of each app: “There’s no need to be connected to the internet to play this application.” An internet connection may still be needed for the initial download or other eShop activity.
Do I need a My Mario block?
No. The apps are designed for touch play without the physical blocks. Nintendo says My Mario wooden character blocks work as amiibo figures: tap a block while using the app on Switch or Switch 2 to make the character shown on it appear. The blocks are an optional way to add that character, not a requirement for using the apps.

What do you do in the apps?
Nintendo presents these as simple, child-friendly My Mario experiences. You can poke, pull, stretch, and spin Peach’s or Luigi’s face, then use the ? Block menu to add items such as a Super Mushroom, Super Star, pipes, or enemies. Nintendo also notes that Boo may appear as a guest.
Each app includes a sleep break after playing for a while. Nintendo does not specify a fixed duration. The break can be switched off using the gear icon when the application starts.
