Yes. Minecraft villager trade prices can go down again: prices are affected by both reputation and demand. If a trade got more expensive after repeated use, let the villager restock and avoid buying out that offer while demand changes. Mojang does not specify a universal waiting time or exact price drop.
Why do villager trade prices change?
Mojang’s Java Edition Village & Pillage notes say trading prices depend on your reputation and on demand. These are separate influences: a reputation-based discount can coexist with a demand-related change to a particular trade’s price.
Demand is connected to how often an offer is used and when the villager restocks. Microsoft’s Bedrock trade-table documentation describes the price_multiplier field as affecting price increases due to supply and demand, and max_uses as the number of times a trade can be made before the trader needs to restock.
What to do if a trade became more expensive
- Stop repeatedly buying out the offer whose price rose.
- Allow the villager to restock, then check the trade again. Demand-related prices can change as use and supply change.
- If the price remains high, remember that reputation may also affect it; a visible price can reflect more than one factor.
The official materials do not establish an exact number of in-game days to wait, a fixed decrease per restock, or a guarantee that every price returns to its original amount. Exact behavior can vary by edition and version.

Can curing the villager lower the price again?
Curing a zombie villager can give a large discount. However, repeatedly turning the same villager into a zombie and curing it again no longer adds another cure discount in the cited updates.
| Edition and version | What the official notes establish |
|---|---|
| Java Edition 1.20.2 | Mojang says curing gives a big discount only the first time; reinfecting and curing that villager again no longer grants an additional bonus. The villager trade rebalance is identified as an experiment and does not affect normal worlds. Official release notes. |
| Bedrock Edition 1.20.30 | Mojang says repeated reinfection and curing no longer increases the discount. The release page separately identifies some librarian and wandering trader changes as experimental. Official release notes. |
Check your edition and world settings
Java and Bedrock have separate release notes, and experimental trade changes may not apply to ordinary worlds. Check which edition and version you are playing, and whether trade-related experiments are enabled, before following advice tied to a specific update. The version notes above describe those releases; newer updates or experiments may change details.
