Yes. If you list an eligible avatar clothing item for sale on Roblox and someone buys it, you earn Robux. You may not receive the full listed price: the amount depends on the item’s price and where it is bought. If the clothing is listed by a community, the Robux goes to that community rather than directly to the member who designed it.
How much Robux do you get from a clothing sale?
There is no single percentage that applies to every clothing sale. Roblox’s Marketplace commission schedule sets a creator share that depends on the item’s price relative to its price floor. At the floor, the documented creator share is 30%; the schedule rises progressively and reaches 70% at six times the floor. Check the current item and sale details before estimating a specific payout. Roblox’s Marketplace fees and commissions documentation describes the schedule.
The sale setting also matters. For an avatar item bought within a game, Roblox’s documented table allocates 30% to the creator and 40% to the game owner. That is different from treating a Marketplace sale as if it always had the same split. Roblox’s Marketplace FAQ says creators earn at least 30% of gross item sales, but the applicable amount still depends on the transaction and listing. See Roblox’s Marketplace FAQ for its creator requirements and guidance.
When do you receive the Robux?
Not immediately. Roblox holds the creator’s Marketplace share in escrow for 30 days after a purchase. The hold applies to the creator’s share; a sale does not mean those Robux are available in your balance on the day it happens. Roblox’s commission documentation explains the escrow period.

Who gets the Robux: the designer or the clothing owner?
Your own Marketplace listing
When you make and list an eligible avatar item through your own creator account, Roblox says you earn Robux when someone buys it, subject to its creator and Marketplace rules. Its Creating and Selling Avatar Items support page explains the basic process.
Community clothing
If the clothing is sold through a community listing, the earnings go to the community, even if a particular member created the design. Roblox’s Community Clothing, Revenue Management, and Payouts support page states that sale Robux goes directly to the community regardless of who created the item. In that case, being the designer does not by itself make you the direct recipient.

Can you turn clothing-sale Robux into real money?
Roblox classifies compliant Marketplace listing earnings as Earned Robux. Eligible creators may be able to exchange qualifying Earned Robux for money through the Developer Exchange program (DevEx), but cashing out is not automatic: DevEx has eligibility and other requirements. Robux bought with money, membership grants, and some other sources do not qualify as Earned Robux for this purpose. See Roblox’s DevEx requirements before assuming sale earnings can be withdrawn.

- Confirm that the item is eligible and actually listed for sale.
- Check whether the item is sold through your own creator listing or a community listing.
- Identify whether the purchase is a Marketplace sale or happens inside a game.
- Use the current item-specific commission breakdown rather than assuming the listed price is your payout.
- Allow for the documented 30-day escrow hold on the creator’s Marketplace share.
Roblox’s creator eligibility requirements can change; its Marketplace FAQ describes requirements such as ID verification and a Roblox Plus or qualifying Premium subscription. Check the current documentation for your account’s eligibility before listing.
