If a changing table is missing or won’t change an infant’s diaper in The Sims 4, first distinguish a missing Build/Buy object from a failed interaction. EA’s current issue index lists the diaper-interaction report as VALIDATING REPORT—it is being tracked, but that status does not confirm a universal bug or a fix. Infant eye problems may be separate: players have reported default eye-replacement custom content affecting infants, but the specific eye glitch here has no verified EA diagnosis.
What is reported—and what is not confirmed
EA’s issue index includes “Can’t change infant’s diaper on changing table” with the status VALIDATING REPORT (EA issue index). This means the report is under tracking or validation; it does not establish that every player is affected, identify a cause, or confirm a resolution. Check the live entry because its status may change.
A separate EA Forums thread, “Can’t Use Changing Table When Changing Infants and Toddlers,” is an individual player report after an update, not proof of a universal regression. The discussion asked for details such as platform, mods or custom content, and whether other households were affected (EA Forums report). An older, similar diaper issue in EA’s bug forum is marked Fixed, but that is a separate report and does not show that the currently validating issue is fixed (older EA bug report).
The infant-eye symptom should be treated separately. An EA community discussion reports that many default eye replacements were affected, particularly on infants (EA community discussion about eye replacements). That makes eye-related custom content worth testing, but it does not confirm that custom content caused your specific symptom or that there is a current base-game eye bug.

First identify which changing-table problem you have
- The table is absent from Build/Buy: Note whether you are searching for a base-game object, a custom-content object, or a table associated with a pack. The available reports do not establish that the table in question requires Growing Together.
- The table is present, but the diaper interaction is unavailable or fails: This is closer to the report currently listed by EA. Note whether the interaction never appears, starts and resets, or fails only for one infant or household.
- The infant’s eyes look wrong: Record what changed—color, shape, texture, or an unusual glow—and whether the effect appears on other Sims. Do not assume the table issue and eye symptom share a cause.
Run a controlled check before changing your setup
- Record the context. Write down your platform (PC, Mac, or console), game version, save and household, and whether you use mods or custom content. Test whether the issue occurs in another household or save if practical; these are the kinds of details requested in the EA changing-table discussion (EA Forums report).
- For an eye symptom, test appearance content separately. Back up your save and follow your usual mod-management practice. Temporarily remove or update eye-related default replacements and other appearance CC, then check whether the symptom remains. This is a diagnostic test prompted by community compatibility reports, not a confirmed fix (EA community discussion).
- For a failed diaper interaction, compare a clean test with your usual setup. If you use mods or CC, test without them using a backed-up save and the game’s normal mod-management steps. Change one category at a time where possible so you can tell whether the result tracks with a particular item or setup. If you do not use CC, note that fact rather than making unrelated changes.
- Check EA’s current issue listing and patch notes. The validating status and game behavior can change with updates. Use the live EA issue entry for the changing-table report; don’t treat an older fixed report or a community workaround as confirmation that the current report is resolved.
Is the changing table tied to Growing Together?
That requirement is not established by the available official evidence. A community custom-content page has a commenter suggesting that one functional changing-table set may need Growing Together, but a comment about a particular CC set is not an EA statement about every changing table or the base game (custom-content page and comments). If the object is missing, check its listing and the game’s own Build/Buy information rather than buying a pack on the strength of that comment.
What patch notes do—and do not—establish
A community-maintained summary of May 12, 2026 patch notes describes infant-care interaction changes and faster diaper changes on changing tables (community patch summary). That is secondary coverage, not a primary EA patch note, and it does not by itself identify a fix for the currently validating report or the eye symptom. Avoid treating the summary as proof that your particular issue should already be resolved.

What to include in an EA report
If you report the problem, make the symptom reproducible and specific. Include the platform and game version, whether mods or CC are installed, whether the issue affects one or multiple saves or households, and the exact sequence that fails. For the table, say whether it is missing from Build/Buy or present but unusable. For eyes, describe the visible change and whether you tested without eye-related CC. These details help distinguish reports that can look alike but have different causes.
