Nintendo Switch Emulators for PC and Android: What Can Be Verified in 2026

A five-emulator ranking cannot be verified from the available documentation. Here is what Ryubing documents for PC, what suyu says about Android, and how to interpret Nintendo’s takedown allegations.

As of October 8, 2026, the available documentation does not support a trustworthy ranking of five current Nintendo Switch emulators for PC and Android. Ryubing is one PC-oriented option with published requirements, but its own documentation calls it an uplift for existing Ryujinx users—not a revival—and the evidence here does not establish an Android recommendation. Nintendo’s recent notices name many projects, but being named in a notice does not verify that a project is available, maintained, or suitable to use.

Why a five-emulator ranking is not supportable

A useful recommendation needs more than a project name. Readers need to know the supported platform, whether there is a current official release, what hardware and input it supports, and what lawful game and system materials are required. The available documentation establishes some of those details for Ryubing and describes suyu’s own position on platforms and user-supplied files. It does not establish current releases, maintenance, requirements, or suitability across five PC and Android options.

Nintendo’s February 12, 2026 GitHub notice names Citron, Eden, Kenji-NX, MeloNX, Pine, Pomelo, Ryubing, Ryujinx, Skyline, Sudachi, Sumi, Suyu, and Yuzu. Nintendo alleges that the named emulators use unauthorized cryptographic keys to decrypt unauthorized game copies. The notice is Nintendo’s allegation; it does not, by itself, show that every named project is still downloadable, actively maintained, or legally adjudicated.

The PC option with documented requirements: Ryubing

Ryubing’s documentation describes the project as a quality-of-life uplift for existing Ryujinx users and explicitly says it is not a revival project. It states that the original Ryujinx was discontinued on October 1, 2024. That history matters: Ryubing and the discontinued original are related, but they should not be treated as the same project or as proof of ongoing Ryujinx development.

#1 Best Overall
Nintendo Switch 2 System
  • The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
  • One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
  • Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
  • Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
  • GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play

What Ryubing documents

  • Memory: at least 8 GiB of RAM. Ryubing warns that less may result in poor gameplay or unexpected crashes; this is a stated requirement, not a promise of good performance at or above that amount.
  • Graphics: OpenGL 4.5 minimum, Vulkan, or Metal through MoltenVK.
  • Input: keyboard, mouse, touch, Joy-Con, and nearly all controllers, according to the project documentation.

These are project-documentation claims, not independent benchmarks or compatibility tests. The available evidence does not establish frame rates, which games work well, or whether a particular PC will run a particular game reliably. It also does not establish Ryubing as an Android option.

What the Android evidence does—and does not—show

The suyu project describes itself as a free, open-source Switch emulator for Windows, Linux, and Android. It says its software does not include Nintendo code, keys, firmware, or game data, and expects users to provide the required materials. Those statements describe the project’s own design and legal position; they do not verify its current release availability, maintenance, Android device requirements, or compatibility.

Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con - Handheld Gaming Console
  • 6.2” LCD screen
  • Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
  • Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
  • Detachable Joy-Con controllers
  • Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends

More broadly, Nintendo’s February 2026 notice names several projects often associated with Switch emulation, but a name in a takedown notice is not a current download recommendation. The evidence available here does not establish a verified list of five Android emulators, or enough comparable information to rank PC and Android choices together.

Game files, keys, and the legal disagreement

Nintendo’s support FAQ defines emulators broadly as programs intended to run software on a device for which it was not originally made. Nintendo says unauthorized emulators can encourage use of unauthorized game copies and that some emulators that circumvent security measures are unlawful. The FAQ states: “The uploading and downloading of pirate copies of Nintendo games is illegal.” That is Nintendo’s institutional position, not a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction legal ruling that every emulator is illegal.

  • This model includes battery life of approximately 4.5 - 9 hours.
  • The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance, the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (games sold separately)
  • Model number HAC 001( 01)

The suyu project argues that its design, which expects users to supply keys and lawfully acquired game dumps, differs from circumvention. Its legal notice is the project’s argument, not a court judgment or independent legal opinion. Nintendo’s February 2026 notice alleges that named projects use unauthorized keys to decrypt unauthorized copies. Nintendo’s February 26, 2025 notice concerning Ryujinx likewise alleges circumvention of technological protection measures and describes the protections Nintendo says are used for Switch games; it also refers to a 2024 judgment in the Yuzu matter. Those notices establish Nintendo’s claims, not that every fork has identical code or status.

Rules can vary by country and by the specific conduct involved. Do not assume that downloading games, keys, or firmware from an unauthorized source is lawful. The available project statements and Nintendo notices are not a substitute for legal advice about a particular jurisdiction.

How to assess an emulator before choosing one

When evaluating a project, check its official documentation and release channel rather than relying on an old list or a repository name. For each candidate, verify:

  • Platform: Does the project explicitly support your operating system and device type?
  • Current status: Is there a recent official release, and does the project document ongoing maintenance?
  • Requirements: Are memory, graphics API, and device requirements stated? Treat minimum requirements as a floor, not a performance guarantee.
  • Input: Does the project document keyboard, touch, or controller support for your platform? A Bluetooth controller is optional, and compatibility varies by device and emulator.
  • Required materials: What game and system files does the project expect you to supply, and can you obtain them lawfully where you live?

On the documentation available as of October 8, 2026, Ryubing offers a concrete PC reference point for these checks. The evidence does not justify turning that reference into a five-item “best” list or presenting an unverified Android project as a recommendation.
