For an Xbox gift card, Xbox download code, or token, redeem it at microsoft.com/redeem: sign in to the Microsoft account you want to use, enter or paste the code, and follow the prompts. That general route does not necessarily apply to every Xbox 360 game-specific or older Marketplace code; check the instructions for that code type.
Redeem a gift card, download code, or token
- Open microsoft.com/redeem.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account you intend to use. For Xbox, confirm it is the account associated with the Gamertag you want.
- Enter or paste the code and follow the on-screen prompts.
Microsoft’s general instructions cover Microsoft and Xbox gift cards, Xbox download codes, and tokens. A gift card adds funds to the Microsoft account; it is not a way to fix a code that is invalid or has already been redeemed.
What if the code is for a specific Xbox 360 game or service?
The general redemption instructions do not establish the correct route for every game-specific or legacy Xbox 360 Marketplace code. Identify the code type from the card, email, or purchase details and follow its instructions. Do not assume that an older code uses the same process as an account gift card or download token.
Microsoft’s gift card terms list Xbox 360 as a participating store where account balance may be used, with Xbox Live required, but that does not mean every old Xbox 360 code remains redeemable or is a gift card. Products and availability can change.
