To start Seek and You Shall Find, complete A Needle in a Haystack, open your personal stash and take the Journalist’s Flash Drive. The quest then marks stash locations on your PDA map.
How to start the Journalist Stash quest
- Complete A Needle in a Haystack.
- Open your personal stash and take the Journalist’s Flash Drive. This triggers a message and reveals Journalist Stash markers on the map, according to GameSpot’s November 20, 2024 guide.
- Open the PDA map to find the quest markers. Press M on keyboard to open the map directly, or press P on keyboard or View on controller to open the PDA. The official PDA guide describes map locations, caches and other markers.
The checklist below follows the landmarks and rewards listed by GameSpot. It is not an optimized single-trip route, and the guide’s numbering is inconsistent around Duga, so use the region and landmark rather than treating each local number as definitive.

GameSpot and PCGamesN’s 2024 stash guide list the same 12 main-region region-and-reward pairings. PCGamesN notes that the southern Swamp stash is gated behind a later story point.
Practical route and hazard notes
- Follow your campaign route. Stashes span distant regions, so collect them when your missions take you nearby rather than making repeated cross-map trips.
- Keep stamina available for climbs. Several containers require roof, vehicle or ledge traversal. Avoid starting a climb when your stamina is already depleted.
- Check access before committing to a detour. A marker does not guarantee immediate access; the southern Swamp stash is reported as story-gated by PCGamesN.
- Approach Duga cautiously. GameSpot warns of lethal sniper fire near the main gate and a Burer in the armory. Its guide could not confirm safe early entry into the southeastern base area, so plan around the main-story sequence rather than assuming you can safely reach it early.
- Use landmarks if a marker or route differs. The cited route guides date to November 2024 and do not establish that every route or access condition is unchanged in later game builds.
The 13th Journalist Stash in Prypiat
After the twelfth stash, a recording points to the final Journalist Stash in Prypiat. It is late-campaign content: GameSpot’s Prypiat stash guide says you reach the city during The Boundary, with either story path at the end of that mission leading there.

- In Prypiat, follow the quest marker and go along the southern wall to an opening and courtyard.
- Enter the apartment building. Be ready for mutant dogs and Psydogs inside.
- On an upper floor, enter keypad code 2021.
- Reach the balcony to collect the stash.
The listed rewards are the Margach D-12MT customized shotgun, Hunter modified sniper rifle and PSZ-21W Shturm armored suit. GameSpot lists a +12 kg maximum-weight bonus for the suit.
