Resident Evil Requiem has three Blood Specimens in the standard route, and each one unlocks crafting recipes for Grace. Denatured is in the Blood Lab. Reversible is in the secured room beside the Blood Lab. Converged is behind the Level 1 door off the Waiting Room. The last two need the Level 1 ID Wristband, which you pick up near the Lead Researcher’s Office. Guides call these items Blood Specimens; “vials” is the common shorthand for the same objects.

Suggested order for collecting all three
- Analyze Denatured in the Blood Lab. It needs no wristband, so you can do it on your first visit.
- Get the Level 1 ID Wristband. It sits in the corridor by the Lead Researcher’s Office on the second floor of the East Wing. One guide reports that picking it up triggers a Chunk encounter, so be ready before you approach.
- Return to the Level 1 door off the Waiting Room for Converged.
- Return to the Level 1 door at the Blood Lab for Reversible. Its room also contains an Empty Injector.
Analysis puzzles, step by step
Each specimen is analyzed at a laser microscope. The Blood Lab and the Lead Researcher’s Office both have one. Clicking a node changes that node and the nodes connected to it. Your goal is to turn every atom node into a sphere. If too many wrong moves have made the board hard to read, reset the puzzle and start again.
Denatured
The minimum solution is a single interaction: select the middle cube. Denatured is the purple sample on a desk in the Blood Lab, so no door or item check stands between you and this puzzle.

Reversible
This is the longest of the standard puzzles, with four required steps in the sequence VGC describes:
- Select the center cube.
- Clear the remaining corner cluster by selecting its center.
- Change the two unconnected corner cubes.
- Select the center of the final three-cube group.
Converged
The minimum solution takes two steps:
- Select the middle cube in the connected trio.
- Select the second cube from the end of the chain.
Guides name this room differently. VGC calls it the Ward Office connected to the Waiting Room, Epic calls it the Closet next to the Waiting Room, and PowerPyx calls it the Closet. All three describe the Level 1-access area reached from the Waiting Room, so if you are checking your map, look for the Level 1 door off the Waiting Room rather than relying on a single room name.

Insanity mode is different
VGC reports that in Insanity mode, Converged is in the Records Room instead of the Waiting Room area. The same guide says Insanity includes a fourth Blood Specimen that unlocks the R.I.P. Knife and 30 Handgun Ammo. This article does not cover that fourth specimen’s location or puzzle solution, and the standard-route steps above should not be assumed to apply to Insanity.
Analyzing specimens is not the same as gathering Infected Blood
Specimen analysis unlocks recipes. It does not supply the ingredients. VGC’s guide puts it plainly: “Crafting using Infected Blood is Grace’s new speciality in RE9, and you’ll need Blood Specimens to do it.”

To get Infected Blood, Grace must first find the Blood Collector in the Blood Lab. Then she can collect Infected Blood from defeated enemies, from blood on the environment, and from Transfusion Bags. The Epic Games Store guide lists the Blood Collector’s starting capacity as 100 units. It also describes two upgrades:
- Matsuoka Override Manual: bought in the Care Center Parlor for at least 6 Antique Coins. It adds 50 capacity for that playthrough only.
- Matsuoka Master Manual: bought with 1,000 Completion Points. It adds 50 capacity permanently.
Don’t confuse these with recipe documents
Two other recipe items are not Blood Specimens. According to Epic’s guide, a recipe in the Basement of the Care Center Bunkroom unlocks Molotov Cocktails, and a recipe found in the ARK Monitor Control Room during Grace’s section unlocks a Bottle of Acid and other items. Neither affects the three specimen puzzles.

Version and date notes
The VGC and Epic Games Store guides were published on 26 February 2026, and the PowerPyx guide was accessed on 8 October 2026. Room names, puzzle layouts, and unlock lists can change with patches, so if a step does not match what you see, check the current guide before assuming you have missed something.
