Build Ellen as a crit-focused Ice Attack carry: use a Stun agent to create a Daze window, refresh support buffs, then switch Ellen in to spend that window on her EX Special and enhanced Basic and Dash attacks. Deep Sea Visitor is her signature W-Engine, while four-piece Polar Metal is a practical Drive Disc starting point. Your best setup depends on your available agents, equipment, and the mode you are playing.
What role does Ellen fill?
Ellen is an S-rank Ice Attack agent from Victoria Housekeeping. She is designed to deal burst damage while on field, with a kit that rewards critical stats and well-timed attacks. Her movement, self-buffs, defensive options, and area coverage also help her handle groups as well as single targets.
Prydwen’s guide, last updated 30 September 2026, rates Ellen T1.5 in its Crit DPS category. That is Prydwen’s own assessment, not an official or timeless ranking: its tier list focuses on demanding Deadly Assault and Shiyu Defense content, and it notes that results vary with team composition and player execution. Treat the tier as context rather than a reason to bench or build her on its own.
Which W-Engine should you use?
Prydwen’s Ellen guide lists Deep Sea Visitor (S1), her signature W-Engine, first. It provides CRIT Rate and Ice DMG bonuses, with further CRIT Rate after Basic Attacks and Ice DMG Dash Attacks. Prydwen also describes Myriad Eclipse as highly competitive; its DEF reduction is straightforward to trigger during a stun window with EX Special, Chain Attack, or Ultimate damage.

Do not read a displayed damage ordering as a universal result. Prydwen’s numerical comparisons use team-buffed calculations with Dialyn equipped with Yesterday Calls and Astra Yao with Kaboom the Cannon. Your own engine’s refinement, team buffs, and current CRIT balance can change which option performs best for your account.
HostedGG’s Ellen build guide also names Brimstone, Steel Cushion, and the A-rank Cannon Rotor as alternatives. These are options to consider if you own them; the available evidence does not establish a single ranking that applies to every team and account.
How should you build Ellen’s Drive Discs?
HostedGG recommends four-piece Polar Metal for its fit with Ellen’s Ice, Basic Attack, and Dash Attack damage. For the remaining two-piece bonus, choose according to what your build needs:
| Two-piece set | Why consider it |
|---|---|
| Woodpecker Electro | Supports CRIT Rate. |
| Puffer Electro | Supports ATK and EX Special damage. |
| Hormone Punk | Provides an ATK increase on entry. |
For main stats, the guide suggests slot 4 CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG, slot 5 Ice DMG Bonus, and slot 6 ATK%. Prioritize useful CRIT and ATK substats; Anomaly Proficiency is not a priority in this build. Zenlesslab’s Ellen guide likewise lists CRIT Rate, Ice DMG, and ATK% as main-stat targets and mentions Woodpecker Electro or Puffer Electro for the remaining slots.
Use those recommendations as a target, not a requirement to discard good equipment. Compare the final stats shown on your character, including bonuses from the W-Engine, and weigh a strong disc with useful CRIT substats against the cost of forcing a set bonus. There is no fixed CRIT ratio in these recommendations that accounts for every engine and team.
Which team should you use with Ellen?
Classic mono-Ice baseline
Ellen, Soukaku, and Lycaon remain a straightforward mono-Ice shell. Ellen supplies the burst damage; Lycaon builds Daze and supports the Ice-focused team; Soukaku provides buffs and Ice application. Zenlesslab and HostedGG both describe this trio as a core option. HostedGG also names Nicole as a support alternative and suggests other Stun agents can substitute for Lycaon.
Other Stun and support options
Prydwen’s September 2026 discussion considers a broader roster. It highlights Dialyn as a particularly strong Stun partner who can contribute Daze without needing much field time, and also discusses Lighter, Trigger, Ju Fufu, and Lycaon as Stun options. Its support discussion includes Astra Yao, Yuzuha, Nicole, Soukaku, and Sunna, each with different strengths.
Those are guide-specific evaluations tied to Prydwen’s roster and assumptions, not a universal ranking. Pick the team you can field and adapt it to the mode: a newer support or Stun agent may suit your roster better than the classic mono-Ice trio, while the classic lineup remains a useful baseline.
What is a practical Ellen rotation?
The goal is to have buffs active and Ellen ready to burst when the enemy is stunned. The following sequence combines the rotations described by HostedGG and Zenlesslab; it is a practical framework, not a claim that one exact sequence fits every encounter.
- Use your Stun agent to build Daze.
- As the stun approaches, apply or refresh the support buff so Ellen can benefit during her damage window.
- Switch to Ellen near the start of the stun window.
- Spend the window on EX Special and enhanced Basic and Dash attacks. Use a Chain Attack or Ultimate when it fits the situation.
- Rotate Ellen out when the stun window ends rather than extending her field time after the burst opportunity has passed.
Adjust the timing to the fight and your team’s actual buff durations. The central priority is to concentrate Ellen’s damage inside the Daze window, not to follow a rigid button sequence when the enemy or rotation state differs.
How current are these recommendations?
The detailed references are time-sensitive: Prydwen’s build guide was updated 30 September 2026, HostedGG’s article is dated 18 August 2026, and Zenlesslab’s page reported a 28 September 2026 update. Rankings and team assessments can shift as the roster and endgame context change. The HoYoLAB creator guide dates to 22 January 2025 and covers Version 1.5, so it is historical context rather than the basis for the current build recommendations.
