Ghost Bind is unlocked through the Unwanted Hospitality quest in Kaifeng City. It is not a loose skill scroll on the route that current Global guide material describes. You trigger the quest at a blocked house, reach its rear window, get the skill taught through dialogue, then cast it on the Well of Heaven disciples outside and finish the quest to keep it.
Where the quest starts
Head to Kaifeng City and look west of Forsaken Quarter, near Niu Mang’s food stall. A house there is blocked by Well of Heaven disciples. Approaching it starts Unwanted Hospitality. You will know it has started when a pebble scene plays or a quest objective appears. If neither happens, the trigger has not fired yet, so move closer to the house before doing anything else.
Unlocking Ghost Bind step by step
- Enter the rear route. The front entrance is blocked. Take the narrow side passage and follow it around to the back of the house, where the lattice windows are.
- Talk through the rear window. Speak to the person asking for help and carry the dialogue through to the end. Ghost Bind is taught at this point, but only temporarily, for the escape attempt. Reaching the window alone does not complete the unlock.
- Return outside and cast it. Go back to the disciples and cast Ghost Bind on the quest targets. Cast it on them specifically, since that is the step the quest checks.
- Finish the escape scene. Completing the quest is what makes the skill permanent. Once the quest is complete, Ghost Bind should appear in your Mystic Skill collection. That listing is the confirmation that you have kept it.
Using Ghost Bind in combat
Ghost Bind is an offensive Mystic Skill built for crowd control. A community skill reference on the Where Winds Meet Wiki (Fandom) describes it as a skill that flashes through enemies, immobilizes up to six targets, and deals damage. That reference does not state the year it reflects, and live balancing can change the target cap, so treat the figure as a description of the skill at the time of writing rather than a permanent value. The current Global walkthrough describes the skill as control that breaks targets’ Vital Points.
The immobilize does not apply to powerful enemies or to player targets. If you are testing the skill, use ordinary eligible enemies. A boss or a PvP opponent that is not held does not mean the skill is broken. Exact duration and upgrade values are patch-sensitive, and the sources used here do not establish them, so check the in-game skill description for current numbers.
When Ghost Bind is missing or the quest will not advance
Most problems fall into one of three cases. Work through them in this order.
- The quest objective is still open after the skill was taught. Return to the named disciples and perform the quest cast. Normal attacks and other control skills do not satisfy this step.
- The scene is over but the control does not appear in combat. Open the Mystic Skill collection. A learned skill can exist there without being assigned to an active slot. Equip Ghost Bind to an active slot. The general Where Winds Meet Handbook (October 1, 2026 guide, whose balance version is unverified) gives the same advice: confirm the skill is learned, assign an equippable combat skill to an active slot, and read its activation prompt and requirements.
- The quest never triggers. Confirm you are in Kaifeng City, west of Forsaken Quarter, next to Niu Mang’s food stall. Older translated guides may use different labels, so search for the current Global quest name, Unwanted Hospitality, rather than an older one.
About the Wuyou Cave requirement
Some older material links Ghost Bind to Wuyou Cave. The current Global walkthrough does not list that cave as a prerequisite. It presents the cave requirement as a note from an older Chinese-route version of the game. Treat it only as a troubleshooting lead if the Kaifeng trigger never appears. Do not start the process by going to the cave.
